‘No, this is the part where you pull a knife out’: Woman says her Tinder date answered her serial killer joke by unzipping his backpack

Her friends now call him 'Knife guy.'

A woman was 20 and reportedly fresh out of a breakup when she gave dating another chance, before she had recognized she was a lesbian. She said the Tinder date ended when her match pulled a jagged pocket knife from his backpack in a deserted bird cabin, according to a Reddit post by u/Colonel_Mustard11 in r/tifu.

According to the woman, the man studied marine biology and the pair reportedly chatted on Tinder for a week. As he lived in a rural town four hours away but was moving near his parents, he apparently asked her to plan the date.

She said she picked a restaurant and a park with a bird lookout. On the day of the Tinder date, she said she drove an hour to his parents’ house, and as he did not have a job or a car, she drove him everywhere.

She says the knife came out of that one-shoulder backpack

He apparently arrived with completely melted chocolates. She said he wore a Sea Shepherd T-shirt, distressed black cargo pants, and a one-shoulder backpack. She said the trouble began on the way to the restaurant, as he spoke over her whenever he did talk. He reportedly complained about the hill up to the restaurant and got annoyed when she refused to let him pay for her meal.

Over dinner, she mentioned she was waiting for news about her sister’s new baby. When she said her sister was 29, he reportedly remarked that it did not leave the two of them much time. She said she knew then that she never wanted kids with him.

First dates have gone sideways in other viral stories too, including one where a woman realized her match had memorized months of her TikToks before meeting her. She said she left and blocked him once she recognized the pattern.

After dinner, the Tinder date moved to the park, where she said he insisted on holding her hand. She said he dragged her to a tree for photos, then said he felt happy again after meeting her. He then apparently asked, “You won’t do that to me, will you?” about other women refusing him second dates.

They then reached a deserted bird cabin, where he reportedly tried to feed her chocolate like a scene from a movie. When they heard footsteps outside, she said she joked about a serial killer. She said he laughed and replied, “No, this is the part where you pull a knife out to get me.”

She said she pointed out that she was wearing a dress. He then reportedly unzipped his backpack and pulled out a pocket knife with multiple jagged blades and a tactical torch. She said she played it cool and steered them toward the lookout and other people.

At the lookout, he apparently insisted on playing “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Queen on her phone and sang for her. However, she said she was unimpressed by his singing. He then reportedly demanded she sing for him, and she obliged.

He reportedly suggested they go fishing on her dad’s boat for their next Tinder date. She said she told him she was busy with work and drove him home. Another viral Tinder date at a mall reportedly took a turn when the man vanished into a bathroom for 20 minutes.

He apparently tried to kiss her again through the car window. She said she went to her grandmother’s house afterward to shower and block him. However, when she tried to break things off, he reportedly asked, “Perchance may I ask why you feel that way?” and she said that convinced her she had made the right choice.

Her friends reportedly now call him “knife guy,” and commenters had a field day with multiple knife jokes. The account comes only from her Reddit post, and the man’s side of the date could not be verified.
