We’ve heard our fair share of puzzling remixes, but this one takes the cake. Dutch house mainstay R3hab has tried his hand at remixing Axwell /\ Ingrosso’s “Sun Is Shining,” and I can’t help but assert that this one was a little thrown together.
The beginning of the track certainly piqued my interest; a chugging electro rhythm with undeniable aggression sets a brooding tone that made me curious to see how it could be tied to the original. When the sample itself cued, though, I found myself disappointed.
R3hab left the chorus all but untouched, allowing it to clash considerably with the dark riffs of his intro arrangement. Really, it sounds like what he used for the remix ought to have been its own original song, but he forced it into the format of a remix to capitalize on the name brand recognition of Axwell /\ Ingrosso.
