There’s a fresh new face in the electronic music scene, and her name is Ramsey. The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/producer has hit the ground running with a SoundCloud account that has already amassed 1.5 million followers since January, and her latest single comes in the form of “Pay.”

A largely metal music-inspired progression that Ramsey herself produced is underscored by her own dreary vocals. As a whole, the track doesn’t go through many changes, but it still succeeds in creating an unsettling ambience for the listener.

While her level of involvement in the music is certainly admirable, I do find her style itself to be somewhat dated and too obscure to reach a wide audience in its present form. Given her stats, I might be in the minority when I say this, but I foresee the Ramsey sound evolving into something else before she’s ever optioned by a label with real clout.

In the meantime, though, listen to “Pay” by Ramsey via the player above and let us know what you think by sounding off in the comments section.
