Shea Fontana Talks Justice League #22 In New Video

Regardless of whether or not you've been enjoying Bryan Hitch's run on Justice League that's been enduring since last July, you have to admit that different creative teams can come as a breath of fresh air, even if it's only for the interim. That said, the next three issues of the series dedicated to spotlighting DC's premier superhero team will consist of done-in-ones, with a variety of writers and artists lending their talents before Hitch returns with #25.

Regardless of whether or not you’ve been enjoying Bryan Hitch’s run on Justice League that’s been enduring since last July, you have to admit that different creative teams can come as a breath of fresh air, even if it’s only for the interim. That said, the next three issues of the series dedicated to spotlighting DC’s premier superhero team will consist of done-in-ones, with a variety of writers and artists lending their talents before Hitch returns with #25.

The first duo up to bat is none other than writer Shea Fontana and artist Philippe Briones, the former of which proves to be a good fit for the project given her experience writing for ensembles – especially with a focus on strong female characters – with DC Super Hero Girls. Plus, there’s also the fact that she’s taking over Wonder Woman next month with issue #26, so this will allow a broader audience to sample her talent.

Surprisingly enough, Diana Prince isn’t the central focus in her Justice League debut, but rather, Green Lanterns Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz, especially the former. In fact, she discussed being able to write for the ringslingers in a recent episode of DC All Access, elaborating on how Cruz manages to overcome adversity.

Aside from that, she touched on the interactions between characters such as Batman and Lois Lane, bringing a bit of levity to an otherwise dire situation. If this is the personal touch that Fontana brings to her comic books, then DC may want to consider continuing giving her a crack at the bigger books as she seems to have a knack for incorporating optimism and for just crafting a fun read.

Justice League #22 is now available in comic shops. For more, be sure to check out our review.
