Teen boys ordered allegedly ordered hundreds of dollars worth of food and dine and dashed. Then a server noticed a phone left at the table

It was supposed to be an opportunity for the server to teach the boy a lesson.

Dealing with mischievous teenagers at a restaurant is already challenging for service workers. But when teenagers dine and dash, it’s a whole different story. Fortunately for this one server, she found a way to get even when one of the dashers left their phone behind.

On TikTok, Samantha (@misssamanthab) shared how a boy came in with a group of friends. They ordered a lot of food and asked for boxes. But when she returned with the boxes, the teenagers were allegedly gone. She then noticed that one of them had left their phone behind, so she handed it over to her manager.

Samantha recalled that the mother of one of the teenagers came in to ask about her son’s phone. Samantha says the woman was questioned in hopes she would “incriminate herself.” She also notes that the son didn’t want to pick it up himself. According to Samantha, the manager explained that this was because he had done a dine-and-dash with a bill of over $300. To their shock, the mother didn’t seem surprised or bothered at all by her son’s action.

The restaurant didn’t expect the mother’s response

According to the mother, as Samantha recalled, this is their way of letting teenagers be teenagers by “experimenting with the rules.” “We looked at her and were like, ‘Ma’am, that is stealing,’” Samantha adds. “You know what’s stealing?” Samantha says the mother retorted. “The fact you won’t give me my son’s phone back.”

Things escalated when the woman called the police, according to Samantha. She claims the woman accused the restaurant of withholding her son’s property. Even after Samantha and her manager explained the situation, the police still showed up. When the mother explained the situation to the officer, he remarked that she had essentially called the police on herself.

Samantha says the boy was waiting in the car, but the officer brought him inside the restaurant. According to Samantha, the boy admitted to what he had done, and in the end, his mother paid the $300 bill. However, Samantha notes, the woman made it clear she wouldn’t be leaving a tip. “Oh, really? Really, you thought I was expecting a tip after your child ran out on a $300 tab, and you said, ‘Let him experience life?” Samantha asks. “I knew it wasn’t coming.”

Samantha also told BroBible, “The only additional comment I’d have would be to raise your children better and not to condone bad behavior. They’re eventually going to enter the real world and be in for a rude awakening.”

In the comments, viewers expressed their disbelief at both the boy’s behavior and his mother’s response. “Could the restaurant press charges? Seems like the mom needs to learn a lesson,” one user suggested. ‘“He’s just experimenting with the rules,” and she’s teaching him there are no consequences for breaking the law????” a second pointed out. “Well now he is experiencing life,” a third quipped. “He gets to find out that effing around lets you find out how the law works.”
