Senator Brent Taylor is facing scrutiny just one week before the election after admitting to sending unsolicited nude photos, Action News 5 reports. The news surfaced on Tuesday when it was reported that he had sent these images to multiple women. Taylor confirmed he sent the photos, though he stated they involved one woman during an interview with Joyce Peterson on Tuesday afternoon.
Taylor addressed the situation by characterizing the actions as part of his past. He described the photos as “youthful indiscretions” in a comment. This label has drawn attention because one person reported receiving a nude photo from Taylor as recently as 2021, a time when Taylor was 53 years old.
In his response to the reports, Taylor stated, “Whatever story you think you’ve got, my wife is well aware of and we’ve worked through it a long time ago. My God and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same.”
Taylor also issued a written statement regarding the timing of the news
He wrote, “Well, I guess this signals where we are in the campaign and who the frontrunner is with 7 days left until Election Day. I’m willing to acknowledge my past indiscretion. The frustrating part is that my wife now has to relive this nonsense we’ve already worked through years ago together and moved on from.”
Taylor added, “Tennessee Niners aren’t concerned about my family or this type of past nonsense. They’re concerned about their family and prices they’re paying at the grocery store and gas station. That’s why I’m running for Congress—to stop Democrat Socialist Justin Pearson. He would be an ongoing public embarrassment if elected. Voters have a stark contrast this election. When given the choice, they will choose Competence Over Chaos.”
Taylor has held a position in the state Senate since 2023. He is currently campaigning for a seat in the U.S. House to represent Tennessee’s 9th District. His opponents in the race include state Rep. Justin Pearson, along with independent candidates Dennis Clark and Michelle Head.
Pearson, who is running against Taylor, provided a statement to Action News 5 regarding the revelations. Pearson said, “Men of faith––let alone men who are married, in their fifties, and in public office––have no business sending unsolicited nude photos to women. Earlier today, the Nashville Scene reported that my opponent, Trump-endorsed Brent Taylor, admitted to sending unsolicited nude photos exposing himself to multiple women.”
“This news reflects very disturbing behavior from someone who has been married for 30 years, professes Christian values and has held government office since 1995,” Pearson continued. “Taylor’s belief that sending unwanted naked photos of himself to women at 53 years old is “youthful indiscretion” is a ridiculous and dangerous mischaracterization of the type of predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics. Career politicians like him have been abusing their power and getting away with it for far too long.”
“Tennessee deserves leaders who respect women—not those who sexually harass, expose their genitalia, or take advantage of them. This disgusting behavior is unbecoming of any elected official,” Pearson concluded.
