‘The man has served his country for 50yrs’: Piers Morgan vows to block MAGA politicizing Biden’s cancer fight

Looks like this horse might have already bolted.

Once upon a time, the news that a former US president was suffering from cancer would have drawn sympathy from across the political spectrum. That time, apparently, is over. Yesterday’s bombshell revelation that Joe Biden is suffering from an aggressive form of prostate cancer doesn’t appear to have altered anyone’s opinion of him.

Over on the right, Laura Loomer is adamant she’s continuing his quest to see him behind bars, while the left have little forgiveness in their hearts for his position on Israel/Palestine. Well, one person has had enough! So, what moral paragon are we looking towards for guidance? None other than… Piers Morgan!

He’s just vowed to “block anyone” he sees “mocking, celebrating, or playing partisan politics with Joe Biden’s health news”, arguing that after serving his country for 50 years, he deserves respect:

But it seems there’s little sympathy for this position on social media. Judging by the replies to Morgan’s post, Biden’s cancer news has only hardened people’s hearts against him. Replies argue that: “Respecting someone’s public service doesn’t mean ignoring the consequences of their actions while in power“, “We are under no obligation to express public grief or support for anyone. especially war criminals, and “What do you think people like us from Lebanon and Palestine should feel about the terrorist who gave bombs to Israel to kill us?”

Drama incoming?

It remains to be seen just how Biden’s cancer news will shake out. Last week saw many Democrats break cover and openly criticize Biden for clinging to the 2024 nomination far too long.

This has centered around the new book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, which was published on May 10. That lays out how Biden’s team did their best to hide his condition from everyone, a strategy that worked right up until Biden walked onto the presidential debate stage on June 27, 2024.

If, as the news indicates, Biden doesn’t have much time left, we also have a state funeral to get through. Traditionally, presidential funerals have the sitting president deliver the eulogy, though there’s not a chance in hell the Biden family will let Donald Trump anywhere near that mic. Even so, expect a politically fraught occasion at which many old grudges will be worked out.

So, while Morgan might be leading a crusade against anyone politicizing Biden’s cancer, he’s already fighting an uphill battle.
