This motorcycle chase would make GTA players sweat. Knives flying, helmets thrown, and cops barely hanging on

This person put Rockstar to shame.

A moped rider who led London police on a high-speed chase worthy of Grand Theft Auto, complete with throwing his helmet at the pursuing officer, has been arrested, charged, and sentenced to 15 months in prison. This whole incident puts those wild clips you see online to shame.

You really can’t make this stuff up. The dramatic footage was obtained by The Sun and started when a suspect on a stolen, L-plated moped tried desperately to shake off a motorbike cop. Footage captured by the police bike’s camera showed the intensity of the pursuit as the officer kept pace through the neighborhood. As the cop closed in, attempting to ride up right beside him, the moped rider made a truly shocking and dangerous move to try and end the chase.

The suspect swiftly snatched his helmet off his head. He took a quick glance back at the officer, and then he flung the helmet directly at the cop’s bike. That’s a top-tier act of desperation, and honestly, it’s awful for public safety when someone resorts to throwing objects at high speed. Thankfully, the helmet maneuver didn’t work out for him. It only ricocheted off one of the cop bike’s rear-view mirrors, and the police were able to continue the chase without missing a beat.

Grand Theft Auto has nothing on this user

After failing to lose the officer with that bold move, the suspect carried on the chase through the narrow roads and pathways of the London neighborhood. But even the tight turns weren’t enough to create distance. The suspect ultimately decided to abandon the stolen moped, ditching it on the side of a back street and attempting to escape on foot instead.

This is when the situation escalated from a crazy chase to something far more serious. As police continued the pursuit on foot, heading back toward the main road, the suspect was seen discarding a knife over the fence of a property. The officers were able to successfully tackle the man to the floor, ordering him to put his hands behind his back, and safely detaining him.

Following the man’s detention, the police were able to recover two knives that the suspect had discarded during the foot chase. The Metropolitan Police later shared details of the incident on social media, confirming the dangerous tactics used by the rider. They stated, “A suspect attempted to escape on a stolen moped, even throwing a helmet at officers during the pursuit! When that failed, he abandoned the moped and discarded two knives over a wall, before being safely detained by officers.”

It’s great to see this kind of dangerous behavior taken off the streets, and you’ve got to respect the dedication of the officers involved in this high-risk pursuit. After the arrest, two cops were even seen celebrating with a fist-bump, signaling “mission passed” after bringing the chaotic situation to a close. The Met Police emphasized that they “remain dedicated to tackling moped-enabled crime and keeping London’s streets safe.”

The man was charged following the incident, which occurred on November 17, and he was ultimately sentenced to 15 months in prison for his actions. It’s a definite reminder that while these incidents might look like something out of a video game, the real-world consequences are very serious for everyone involved.
