‘This woman seemed to hate my guts. I could not win in this house.’ Woman claims after living with an older roommate for six months

“I don’t think I have seen that woman smile once."

A TikTok user, Emily (@emilytatouille), thought she had found a wholesome place to live while completing a college internship. However, she later claimed that her experience sharing a home with an older woman turned into a “living hell,” with uncomfortable encounters and strange household rules making her six-month stay increasingly difficult.

She recounted the experience in a video, alleging that she had rented a room in the woman’s home in 2019 while completing an internship required for her bachelor’s degree. She apparently found the listing on Facebook Marketplace and initially thought the arrangement seemed ideal. The homeowner reportedly appeared friendly and enjoyed gardening and yoga, but according to the creator, that first impression quickly faded.

Emily claimed that when she entered the house, she noticed what she considered an extremely racist piece of artwork on the wall, along with other sculptures and paintings she also found racist. She recalled becoming so frightened that she started crying and told her mother she didn’t feel comfortable staying there. However, she reportedly had nowhere else to go and felt she had little choice but to remain in the house.

It got even stranger

She also described an alleged dispute over drinking water that happened while she and her mother were unpacking. After she became thirsty, her mother reportedly asked the homeowner if her daughter could have some water. Apparently, the woman refused, saying, “No! I have very special filtered water. I can’t give you my water.” She claimed that even after her mother argued with the homeowner, the woman still refused to share it.

“This woman seemed to hate my guts. I could not win in this house,” Emily recalled. According to her account, disagreements reportedly continued throughout her stay. She also meal-prepped once a week and used plenty of seasoning, which the homeowner apparently disliked.

The woman frequently talked about a man she had reportedly dated and kept pictures of him around the house. Emily later learned that the man had allegedly filed a restraining order against her housemate.

She recalled several incidents she found bizarre, including allegedly seeing the woman use a hair dryer to dry lettuce. “I don’t think I have seen that woman smile once,” she claimed, looking back on the six-month stay.

Emily reportedly moved out as soon as her lease ended, and the two never spoke again. Those in the comment sections empathized with Emily, with one user questioning, “Why did she try and have a roommate? Just to torture them??”
