It is always a tough realization when you find out someone you trusted was building a completely fake reality. TikTok creator Annie, who posts under the handle @cellow111, recently shared her story about an ex-boyfriend who went to extreme lengths to manipulate her, Daily Dot reported. The video has already racked up nearly 930,000 views and over 1,290 comments.
Annie met her ex through a mutual friend, and their relationship started on a foundation that felt deeply personal. She had experienced significant trauma during her childhood and had become very good at keeping those details hidden. When she finally opened up to him, she felt a special connection because she believed he had gone through similar struggles. It turns out that those shared experiences were entirely fabricated, as she later realized he had lied about his own personal trauma.
The relationship was long-distance, meaning they only saw each other in person about once every six months. Because of this, they spent a massive amount of time talking over FaceTime. Annie described him as a pathological liar who frequently manufactured situations to make her worry about his well-being. Since she considers herself a caring person, she would constantly find herself concerned whenever he told her something was wrong.

Things reached a peak during the final three months of the relationship when he claimed he had started a company and was serving as its CEO. He used this supposed business as a convenient excuse to limit the time they spent talking, which only made her miss him more. Annie noted that she never cared about material possessions or status. She didn’t need him to be a successful executive, yet he chose to lie about his career anyway.
The truth eventually came out, and it was not what she expected. The time he claimed to be spending building his company was actually being spent playing video games online. He even used fake scenarios to manipulate her emotions, such as claiming he had made a $5,000 reservation for them. He would later use that nonexistent reservation to make her feel guilty when she had to cancel a trip to see him because of work.
Annie says this entire experience has made it difficult for her to trust men, and she is much more cautious about who she lets into her life now. It is understandable that she feels this way, especially since she was so invested that she genuinely believed they would get married and move in together.
The comments on her video are filled with support from people who think she did not deserve to be treated that way. One commenter wrote, “Genuinely sounds like a bad guy, no one deserved that.
