President Donald Trump posted a sharp critique of Barack Obama on Truth Social at 12:42 AM on Sunday. This message arrived shortly after Obama held a rally in Michigan to support Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat, and Jocelyn Benson, the Democratic nominee for governor, the Huffington Post reports.
“Obama was a grossly incompetent President!” Trump wrote in his post. He continued by criticizing the former president for his past political actions. “He paid off Iran with $Billions, and gave them a road to a Nuclear Weapon. He said that Crooked Hillary Clinton was going to WIN, he campaigned hard for her, and she lost in all directions and ways. He then campaigned full out for Kamala, and likewise, she lost.”
Trump also directed harsh comments toward El-Sayed. He claimed, “Now he’s campaigning for a Muslim Brotherhood Jihadist, who hates Jews and Blacks and AMERICANS and TRUMP, and he is going to lose, also. He’s a Fake Doctor, who runs what is considered to be the WORST CLINIC IN AMERICA.”
These comments followed a rally where Obama criticized the current administration
The post further stated, “I won Michigan, BIG, have brought back the Car Industry, the Air Force Base, and everything else. Also, more jobs than ever before. Michigan doesn’t want an arrogant, Open Borders, Fake Doctor, Jihadist, whose reputation will only get worse as more information is revealed – And there’s plenty. VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS! He will never let you down! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
During his appearance, Obama spoke against what he described as corruption, cruelty, and chaos within the Trump administration. He also addressed the recent attacks aimed at El-Sayed, whose background has been a frequent topic for his opponent, Mike Rogers.
Obama drew a connection between the rhetoric used against El-Sayed and the birther conspiracy theories he faced during his own time in office. “Whenever a movement builds to challenge that broken system, the people who benefit from the status quo will say and do anything to stop that train from coming,” Obama said. “They will use lies and they will use fear and they will use division. And they may even use your name to suggest that you are dangerous and less than trustworthy and less patriotic and less American than they are.”
He added, “We have seen this movie before. I starred in it. I’ve got a long form birth certificate to prove it. This stuff didn’t work on me, not in Michigan. It’s not going to work on Abdul. He is as Michigan as it gets. Abdul was born here. He was raised here.”
