Vincent D’Onofrio gives his stamp of approval on incoming DC project

Kingpin is just as keen as we are!

Kingpin himself, Vincent D’Onofrio has shared his appreciation for one of the DC projects recently confirmed by James Gunn, proving once and for all that perhaps we CAN all just get along and like more than one franchise.

In response to a retweet from director Matt Reeves, who shared a poster revealing the release date for the Robert Pattinson-led The Batman sequel, D’Onofrio showed that he was just as giddy as the rest of us to return to one of the grittiest live-action Gothams we’ve ever had:

While D’Onofrio has depicted one of Marvel’s most popular and longest-running villains (and has finally made his way into the MCU proper), he didn’t shy away from sharing some love for his DC peers. Not that D’Onofrio is contractually obligated to shun the opposing superhero franchise (we think), but still, we love to see it – particularly in an increasingly divided world in which anyone who shares an opposing view or loyalty is dead to you.

Long-winded social commentary aside, while unveiling DC’s slate for the next few years, Gunn took some time to explain exactly how films like Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Todd Phillipp’s Joker are going to fit into the bigger picture. In short, they won’t – such projects are going to be labeled as ‘DC Elseworlds’, and won’t be part of the main DCU continuity.

The DCU will have its own Batman, which will be introduced in The Brave and the Bold. While we don’t quite have a timeframe on when we’ll see that, we know that Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel is set to hit theaters on Oct. 3, 2025.
