Woman who married a rag doll, Marcelo, celebrates six years together mere months after claiming he’s a ‘serial cheater’

"He says he will change, but I don’t believe him."

Meirivone Rocha Moraes is celebrating six years with her unusual husband, Marcelo, a life-sized rag doll she says she fell in love with after her mother made him for her. The Brazilian woman marked the anniversary with an Instagram post, sharing a picture of herself smiling alongside Marcelo and reflecting on their relationship.

“Today we commemorate six years of love, my love you were and always will be my best decision, thank you so much for being in my life,” Moraes wrote in a translated message. Over the years, she has shared regular updates about their life together, including claims that they have a family and accounts of her worries about her husband cheating on her.

However, Moraes has also been open about the apparent difficulties she says she has experienced in the relationship. In an interview with Now to Love, she described being married to a rag doll as “isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.” She also accused Marcelo of being a “serial cheater” and said she had forgiven him for alleged infidelity more than once.

They have a family

Moraes previously explained that she had chosen to forgive Marcelo because of the family she believes they have built together. “I forgave him before for the simple fact that we have a family together,” she claimed, adding that “I couldn’t break us apart for the kids’ sake.”

Despite that decision, she said she remained doubtful that things would change. Moraes recalled that the couple had agreed to renew their vows and that she had put considerable effort into the relationship, only to feel angry, sad, and disappointed by his alleged actions.

“He says he will change, but I don’t believe him,” she said, adding that she was seriously considering asking him to leave. She has also spoken about reportedly attending weekly couples therapy with Marcelo to sort out the difficulties in their marriage. However, she acknowledged that the effort might not save their relationship.

Moraes’ attachment to Marcelo has been linked to objectophilia, a term used to describe romantic or sexual attraction to inanimate objects, according to NOCD. It can be linked to any object, whether it is cars, household items, statues, or dolls. Although she knows he is made of cloth and is not a human being, she has said that she believes he has a soul.

The relationship began when Moraes’ mother made Marcelo for her after she allegedly struggled to find someone to dance with. Moraes reportedly took an immediate liking to the doll. “People tell me he’s just a doll, and I know he’s made of cloth, but he’s not stupid. If there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s manipulate,” she claimed.

Her social media presence has also featured unusual incidents involving their family. Moraes has previously claimed that their rag doll child, Marcelinho, whose name means “Little Marcelo” in Portuguese, was purportedly kidnapped, with those responsible demanding a ransom. She later claimed that Marcelinho had been returned safely.
