As EDM has made the transition from the underground to the mainstream, we’ve seen a number of producers crossover into the pop arena. Skrillex and Diplo achieved major success with Justin Bieber, while Calvin Harris scored a handful of chart topping hits. Zedd is another producer who’s successfully made the switch from hard hitting electro to radio friendly pop, and his latest release is poised to continue that trend.
“Starving” is an upbeat pop song driven by vocals from actress turned singer Hailee Steinfeld and featuring production help from LA duo Grey, who Zedd’s been pushing lately as his proteges. The new single features a light-hearted sound, with rhythmic future bass synth chords, catchy melodies and upbeat percussion.
Zedd has been touting Grey as a duo to keep an eye on, and it’s not hard to see why on the new collaboration. “Starving” has plenty of radio appeal, and we expect to see it climbing the charts in the coming months.
