Ken LaCorte, who served as a vice president at Fox News, posted a lengthy message on X on Sunday criticizing the network’s handling of reports involving Kimberly Guilfoyle. He described the limited attention as a deliberate decision rather than an oversight. LaCorte linked the sparse coverage to what he called “fear and inaction” among middle managers.
According to Mediaite, he worked as vice president and senior executive producer of FoxNews.com from 2006 until 2016. In the post, he said it “pains” him to speak out against his former outlet but that the issue warranted attention. He argued the approach went beyond a single flawed headline or poorly written piece.
“To be clear, this isn’t a simple ‘mistake’ by Fox. It’s not a biased headline or muddled article. It’s a conscious choice to ignore a major story that has been reported worldwide by every major news outlet,” LaCorte wrote. “President Trump has spoken about it, as has VP [JD] Vance and Marco Rubio. It’s journalistic malpractice.”
LaCorte notes zero website stories and contrasts with Wall Street Journal coverage
LaCorte stated that Fox had posted no reporting about the Guilfoyle matter on its website. He added that the most recent article mentioning her dated back to December 2024. He highlighted reporting done by the network’s sister publication.
“Fox’s sister company – the [Wall Street Journal] – has done a great job leading the reporting on this. The allegations are substantive, sourced, and paint a picture of a U.S. diplomat wallowing like a pig in a trough,” he said. The post appeared one day after a Wall Street Journal article on the topic.
That Wall Street Journal report said Trump officials were discussing whether Guilfoyle should be removed from her position as ambassador to Greece. It described her efforts to push “governments from Bulgaria to Albania” toward billions of dollars in business with her foreign associates. The account indicated the president was expected to reach a decision soon.
The Wall Street Journal piece followed an earlier report about Guilfoyle pressing Trump donor Eric Deters for $100,000 to cover her credit card debt in return for administration access. Fox’s approach to Trump has drawn scrutiny, as its chief has signaled the end of Trump coverage while rival networks face extreme consequences.
On Friday, Trump told reporters he knew little about the controversy involving Guilfoyle.
LaCorte closed the message by addressing leaders at Fox, including Lachlan Murdoch. He said the absence of coverage was damaging the company’s standing. “Not among your enemies, who will hate you no matter what, but among your supporters, like me, who get pained when the hyperbolic attacks turn out to be true,” he wrote.
Several hours after the post, Fox News published an article stating that Trump and Rubio were considering firing Guilfoyle. The scrutiny on Guilfoyle continued to build, as when Marco Rubio was standing next to the Greek foreign minister and was asked about Kimberly Guilfoyle’s alleged threat to bring down a foreign government.
On Thursday, Special Report with Bret Baier had aired a segment noting that Vance felt “uncomfortable” with the account of Guilfoyle having Deters pay off her large credit card bill.
CNN ran a report on Sunday evening describing Guilfoyle as being on thin ice. Around the same time, the Associated Press reported that Trump and Rubio were “extremely p***ed off” with her and were debating whether to fire her.
