Viral footage shows a Hawaii Democratic congressional candidate being knocked unconscious after shouting and arguing with other beachgoers. Kirill Basin allegedly made threats towards several people on the beach, threatening to stab and even shoot them before a bystander intervened. Mr Basin now faces two terrorist threatening charges.
The video shows the politician having a very public meltdown. Basin is seen approaching another group on the beach and can be heard telling one person from the group, “Put your bag away, bro. Put your bag away.” A woman is then seen waving him away with her hand before Basin yells, “I told him if he wants to go to the hospital, come here.”
For a brief moment, things seem to calm down as Basin states, “It is over,” before shaking someone’s hand. However, shortly after, he is seen shouting obscenities at someone off-camera. Things escalated with Basin threatening to get physical with one woman before a male bystander approached the congressional candidate.
The two men proceeded to get into a physical fight, ending in Basin swinging a chair at the other man, only to be knocked out cold by his opponent.

The Maui Police Department claimed that the incident began after a 61-year-old man asked Basin to turn down his music. Basin allegedly threatened the man by implying that he had a gun and would shoot the man’s wife, reports Civilbeat.
The bystander who intervened and knocked Basin out was later identified as Kama Homan, according to Fox News. Homan said he decided to intervene after seeing Basin become increasingly aggressive: “As I got closer and closer, he was just getting more irate and violent.” He claimed.
After the fight, Homan is seen shaking Basin and telling him to wake up. Upon regaining consciousness he told someone he was “going to jail” before walking away. He then charged at Homan again.
It’s also alleged that Basin threatened multiple bystanders with a knife before throwing it into the ocean. The weapon was later retrieved by Homan, who claimed it was a five-inch switchblade, which he turned over to the police.
The criminal complaint against Basin accuses the congressional candidate of threatening multiple people with a second felony count, which alleges that Basin threatened Homan with a knife. Basin’s bail was set at $1 million, and at a court hearing on Tuesday, a judge ordered that he have zero contact with Homan and four others.
If he were released, Basin must stay away from Keawakapu Beach, refrain from possessing firearms and ammunition, and avoid drugs and alcohol. He would also have to submit to random drug testing and undergo a mental health assessment.
