A TikTok user said she had already started eating a Dunkin’ Donuts breakfast sandwich when the food began to taste off. Kateri, who posts as @_kat2raw, shared a video of the partially eaten sandwich and said she opened it after noticing the change.
In the clip, she held the sandwich over a pink blanket. It appeared to include a tortilla-like wrap, yellow cheese, a yellow egg patty, and two reddish-brown strips with white marbling. On-screen text read, “Umm… explain yourself Dunkin Donuts.”
Kateri said in the video that the sandwich “started to taste weird,” so she opened it. She peeled back one of the strips, questioned what it was, and said, “Oh my god,” after describing an orange-red mark on the egg where the strip had been.
The receipt listed bacon with American cheese and a fried egg
She said in the video, “Bro, are you- this is not bacon. What the f–k is this?” As she pulled the strip away, the egg patty underneath appeared stained where the strip had touched it. She added, “Oh my God, you’ve got to be sh–ting me. It dyed the f–king egg. This is insane.”
The video then showed a close-up of a Dunkin’ receipt. The receipt listed “Delivery: DoorDash” and the name “Kateri S.” She pointed to a line that read “2 Bcn WUW American Chs WUW Fried Egg.”
Kateri said she had ordered “bacon, American cheese, fried egg.” She added that she “didn’t order any sort of anything, something different.” She then held the sandwich again and peeled the strip back to show the egg. The incident is one of several Dunkin’ order surprises, such as when a Miami woman opened her wake up wrap and couldn’t believe what was inside.
She said, “This is their f–king bacon. What has happened, Dunkin’ Donuts?” In the caption, she wrote, “I actually ate this before I noticed.” The video had drawn 3 million views and more than 8,800 comments. It is not the first time a Dunkin’ customer has questioned what was in their sandwich, such as when a Texas woman ordered an egg sandwich and noticed something unusual about the yolk.
Viewers offered different explanations for the strips. One commenter said the item matched a meat-free product they already eat, writing, “that’s the exact bacon i eat it’s a vegetarian bacon.” Another viewer suggested the strips were not conventional bacon at all. They wrote, “It’s the new 3D printed meat.” A separate commenter identified the item as a plant-based stand-in, writing, “IT’S FACON (fake bacon).”
Other replies focused on the look of the strips rather than a specific product name. One commenter wrote, “Looks like turkey bacon.” Another said the clip had changed how they view packaged meat products, writing, “I don’t trust ‘meat’ anymore.”
