A Dunkin’ customer has been left flabbergasted by what she saw in her Wake Up Wrap. In fact, the contents of the wrap left her so appalled that she took to social media to ask viewers what she was looking at, and TikTok users were happy to provide the answers.
TikTok user “Lillyurbann” shared the clip of her breakfast wrap, showing what is apparently two small strips of bacon. However, it doesn’t look like your typical bacon rasher; rather than the natural, uneven texture you’d expect to see, the bacon in her wrap is perfectly flat with straight edges, as if it were synthetic.
“This looks like the bacon treats I give to my dog,” Lilly quips before asking, “What the f–k is this s–t?” Her video quickly went viral with over three-and-a-half million views as people took guesses over what exactly Lilly had found in her wrap.
It just goes to show you never really know what you’re going to get in food bought from fast food chains or any restaurant in general. Lilly isn’t the only person to have asked TikTok what was in her wrap this month; a recent viral clip on the platform shows a man from Florida whose wrap contained what appeared to be raw meat.
People on TikTok think they know what the bacon is
Of course, the people of TikTok are always willing to provide theories and answers. Some seemed to have little clue, comparing the weird-looking bacon to “glass cleaning cloths,” and saying it looks “3D printed.”
However, the consensus in the comments of Lilly’s video was that the strange-looking bacon was actually a plant-based substitute. Apparently Lilly had “ordered a vegetarian meal without realizing it,” as one person claimed. Perhaps Lilly needed to look a little closer at the Dunkin’ menu.
In fact, some viewers think they even know the exact brand of plant-based bacon that was used: “It’s vegetarian bacon, “Morning Star” and it’s not too bad.” Explained a commenter, going on to describe the flavor and health benefits: “It has a Smokey flavor and doesn’t raise cholesterol.” While it hasn’t been confirmed, most viewers agree that the strange-looking bacon is nothing more than a veggie substitute.
Meanwhile, other commenters opted to dunk on Lilly’s choice to eat at Dunkin’, asking, “why do people still go to dunkin?” Another claimed they had “never had a good experience at Dunkin.” Of course, it’s just a matter of personal taste, some may have a strong dislike of Dunkin’ while others might love it. And likewise, some may hate veggie substitutes for bacon in the wraps while others prefer it.
