Donald Trump is a petty and hateful little man, this much we’ve known for a long time now, but it’s still shocking to hear him admit that he hates a large chunk of the country.
In a speech celebrating the passing of his “One Big Beautiful Bill,” the president commended the Republican congressmen and women who put their support behind the bill. Despite the fact that the bill will no doubt make life much more difficult for a majority of average citizens in America, Trump sees it as a win because it’s allowed him to push through a bunch of tax cuts for the uber rich.
The president then turned his attention to those who opposed the bill, the Democrats, “not one Democrat voted for it,” he stated to a crowd of his supporters. Leader of the opposition, Hakeem Jeffries had previously called out the contents of the bill and has clearly articulated why his party stands against it. Despite this, Trump declared that the Democrats only opposed his bill because they hate him.

After accusing the opposition of hating him Trump went on to clarify that the feelings were more than mutual, stating, “I hate them too. I really do, I hate them. I can’t stand them.” This statement was met with a round of applause and cheers from the crowd.
This is typical of Trump, a man who is about as mature as a toddler. Watching him scream from his little podium about how much he hates the people who oppose him would be funny if it wasn’t so terrifying.
Strongly disagreeing with the opposition party is one thing, but to outright express your hatred for them so publicly is another thing altogether. This is not something a mentally stable leader would do. On X, one person wrote, “Trump hates us,” while another added “A president doesn’t get to pick and choose who they serve based on personal grudges.”
The president expressing his feelings of hatred towards the Democrat party is very worrying as that hatred no doubt extends to every American who voted blue too. Trump essentially told 75 million Democrat voters that he hates them. He then went on to suggest using that hate to beat the Democrats in the upcoming mid-terms, whatever that means.
If he can’t bring himself to serve a large chunk of the country because they disagree with him on matters such as Medicaid, taxes, and human rights, then maybe he shouldn’t be leading the country. Leadership should never be controlled by hatred. When has anything good ever come from such an emotion? The answer is never.
