‘I wonder’: JD Vance thinks no other VP had it this good. He might want to ask Mike Pence about that

Perspective is everything.

US Vice President JD Vance caused a stir on Tuesday when he posted about his “exciting” work as Vice President on social media.

The post came during a tense time as President Donald Trump was heading to a NATO meeting and calling for peace between Israel and Iran. This happened just hours after Trump announced a complete ceasefire between the two countries.

Vance’s post on X drew both praise and criticism from users online. Some fans loved his enthusiasm, while others questioned his choice of words during such serious international events. High-profile supporters like Laura Loomer and Donald Trump Jr joined the conversation by making comments about the previous administration.

‘I wonder if other VPs had as much excitement as I do,’ Vance wrote on X, adding a laughing emoji to his message, continuing his transformation from a former ‘Never Trumper’ who called Trump ‘America’s Hitler’ and ‘a cynical asshole’ to enthusiastic vice president. The post quickly gained thousands of responses from people with very different opinions about his comment.

Vance faced criticism over his weekend media appearance

The Vice President had already drawn attention over the weekend during a TV appearance on Meet the Press. This interview happened right as the US launched three strikes against Iranian nuclear sites. Many people on social media questioned whether Vance even knew about the attack plans beforehand.

When asked about when Trump made the decision to strike, Vance seemed unsure about the timeline. “I don’t know that any of us knew exactly when the president made the decision, except for the president himself. The final decision, of course, is made right before…that was last night,” he explained during the interview.

During the same interview, Vance defended Trump’s foreign policy decisions and criticized previous leadership. He said Americans had been under “dumb presidents” for the past 25 years. This comment was notable since Trump is now serving his second term after previously leading the country from 2017 to 2021. “I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents and now we actually have a president who actually knows how to accomplish America’s national security objectives,” Vance said.

Critics of Vance’s Tuesday post questioned whether it was appropriate to express excitement during such serious times, with many pointing out that his predecessor, Mike Pence, faced death threats and chants of ‘hang Mike Pence’ during the January 6 Capitol attack – hardly an ‘exciting’ moment for a vice president. “Excitement when people are dying?” one user asked in response to his message. Another person suggested focusing more on domestic issues, writing, “Let’s have some excitement in America, and let’s stop the needless focus on foreign countries.”
