Rep. Boebert faces a House Ethics complaint over alleged staff relationships. But she denies it: ‘Never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship’

The group American Muckrakers brought up the allegation

A House Ethics complaint now names Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, in allegations that she had sexual relationships with members of her congressional staff. The group American Muckrakers filed the complaint and said those relationships would break House rules. Boebert has rejected the entire set of claims.

According to Mediaite, the charges came from David B. Wheeler, who is listed as a journalist for the group. He sent the filing to the House Committee on Ethics on Sept. 17 and signed it under penalty of perjury. The group has described its work as holding terrible politicians and people accountable.

On Saturday, Boebert gave her response to Sources Say News. She said, “Well, I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff.”

Filing identifies three staff members and repeats additional source claims

Wheeler’s complaint alleged that Boebert had sex on government time with three current and former senior aides. The people named were Clarice Navarro, Boebert’s district director; Raven Finegan, the district chief of staff; and Jeffrey D. Small, who previously served as chief of staff.

Sources Say News reported that Wheeler’s group also passed along a claim from a source alleging a threesome involving Boebert, Navarro, and former Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, and that the encounter was captured on video. The group itself never said a video existed, and no video has appeared.

Navarro answered the allegations in comments to the Colorado Times Recorder. She said the claims about her are “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous.” Gaetz posted on X, “I am requesting that anyone with video of me in this alleged ‘threesome’ release said evidence IMMEDIATELY! Unedited, please.”

The same filing claimed that roughly $200,000 changed hands in 2025 after Navarro left the office and threatened to file her own ethics complaint. Sources Say News noted that Wheeler does not claim to know where that money came from.

The Colorado Times Recorder reported that Wheeler has made earlier claims about Boebert that relied on unnamed sources. In June 2022, he put up a website that stated, among other things, that Boebert had worked as a paid escort. The site showed a photo of a woman who was not Boebert. Wheeler later admitted several mistakes and called them sloppy while still standing by the core claim about her past.

Boebert publicly threatened a lawsuit over those statements but did not file one. Wheeler then sued her for defamation over the public threats. The settlement came as the GOP faces broader political challenges, such as when Donald Trump’s approval hits a new low amid prospects of losing the House and Senate. That case was also sworn under penalty of perjury and repeated the escort allegation. The two sides later settled on terms that were not made public.

Sources Say News said the House Ethics Committee has not confirmed whether it has opened a review of Boebert. Regardless, ethics complaints involving staff relationships are not uncommon in Congress.
