Ross Coulhart reveals promised UAP disclosure likely yet another Trump Epstein betrayal

Trump on UAPs — psyche!

Investigative journalist Ross Coulhart has questioned whether Donald Trump will, in fact, deliver a major announcement on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), arguing that the hype may have been a distraction from the widespread media coverage of the newly released Epstein files.

Coulhart’s remarks came after filmmaker and UFO researcher Mark Christopher Lee admitted his original prediction of a presidential UAP disclosure was based on misleading information from an anonymous insider.

Trump’s actual statement on UAPs

In February 2026, President Trump issued a public statement directing the relevant departments and agencies to “begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters.”

This pledge, posted on his Truth Social platform, was widely interpreted as an indication that Trump intended to make records concerning UAPs and extraterrestrial phenomena more accessible. While Trump framed it as a commitment to transparency, it did not constitute an executive order legally compelling agencies to release classified files, a distinction Coulhart emphasizes as critical.

Mark Christopher Lee and his source

Researcher Mark Christopher Lee then predicted that Trump would deliver a Roswell anniversary disclosure speech on July 8, 2026, and suggested a May press briefing would precede it. He based this claim on an unnamed Washington insider, described as a personal contact familiar with White House matters.

However, Lee never provided credentials, documentation, or independent verification of the source’s access to classified planning. Lee acknowledged that his source had misled him. Coulhart highlighted this development in a Reality Check segment:

As we predicted on Reality Check, there was no impending disclosure by the president. There was. I know Mark Christopher Lee had announced that there was going to be… some kind of announcement by the president about UAP disclosure. It’s sad that Mark has been embarrassed by the fact that he’s now had to admit that his source was malign.”

Coulhart further suggested the timing of the hype may have served as a media distraction, coinciding with the release of the Epstein files.

“I think it would be very interesting to know from Mark what he knows about the source and whether there was perhaps some manipulation from within the Trump administration to try and distract the public at a time when, frankly, the Epstein story was on all the front pages,” Coulhart said.

Trump, UAPs, and public accountability

Coulhart stressed that while Trump made a legitimate statement on UAP transparency, he has yet to follow through with formal executive action: “He hasn’t followed up on his pledge on social media. Contrary to assertions made by some commentators, the announcement on social media does not constitute an executive order in law,” Coulhart said.

He urged citizens concerned about transparency to hold the White House accountable rather than rely on social media promises. Coulhart also noted that competing headlines and global crises, such as the ongoing Iran war, may be cited to explain delays, but he remains skeptical that a formal disclosure is imminent.

There is no official confirmation of who the actual person is that Lee referred to as his source. In unconfirmed online forums and commentary, some posters speculated the unnamed insider could be billionaire Robert Bigelow, known for his interest in UAP research and past government contracts.

In early 2024, Bigelow donated $1 million to help cover Trump’s legal fees and publicly stated a promise to contribute another $20 million, likely through a Super PAC supporting Trump’s political effort. No credible reporting or documents link Bigelow to Epstein’s social circle, finances, or activities. Independent investigations and released files on Epstein’s networks do not mention Bigelow.
