‘They made billions last year’: Donald Trump wants Walmart to do communism for a bit so his tariffs don’t make him look bad

Donald Trump thinks Walmart should pay for his poor policies.

Apparently Donald Trump is a proponent of communism after all. At least that’s what he seems to be advocating for in a post to Truth Social where he demands Walmart “EAT THE TARIFFS” and not charge customers a thing.

By now we’re so used to Trump’s whiny Truth posts that this isn’t even much of a surprise. In his mini-rant the president calls out Walmart for raising its prices despite supposedly making billions in profits last year. Of course, companies all over the U.S. have been forced to put up their prices thanks to Donald’s insane tariff policy and Walmart is no exception.

Trump is obviously just worried that his supporters are going to start realizing he is not the people’s president and he never was. His handling of the economy so far has been embarrassing and he’s taking the country in a very dark and frightening direction.

Trump wants Walmart to take the hit

Donald Trump is pretty much a capitalist through and through. He’s a notoriously vicious businessman who seemingly takes pride in his vast wealth and his impressive business empire. But despite this, Trump has seemingly gone against the grain in demanding Walmart take a hit in terms of profitability so that consumers don’t have to pay more thanks to tariffs.

According to Statista.com, the retail chain had a net profit of $16.3 billion in 2024, up from $11.3 the year before. However, with things likely set to cost a whole lot more thanks to the massive taxes placed on imported goods, Walmart has opted to hike up prices in order to keep being profitable.

It’s hard to blame the company, after all, every business wants to be as profitable as possible. But at the same time, Trump may have a point, businesses should be prioritizing consumers rather than taking advantage of the tariff situation to charge even more. But let’s not pretend the president wouldn’t be doing the same thing Walmart is doing right now if he were running the company.

Is this communism?

Trump wants businesses that make too much profit to take a financial hit in the form of a large tax on imported goods so that the consumers don’t have to pay as much. Sounds like redistribution of wealth to me. Of course, the government is really the one that would benefit the most from this arrangement as that’s who Walmart would be paying taxes too.

The only reason Trump wants Walmart to take the hit on tariffs is so consumers don’t realize how badly he messed up. He’s demanding the rest of the businessmen to make a move that would be bad for their businesses so that he can carry on pretending like this tariff plan isn’t a bad idea.

Walmart may be a bad company that prioritizes shareholder profits over its own customer, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that the rising prices we’re seeing across the U.S. are because of Trump and nobody else.
