Trump claims many people have received threatening letters from Democrat leaders after the midterms. He orders DOJ to investigate: ‘This is extortion’

Sen. Elissa Slotkin said she wants a ‘deterrence message’ sent

President Donald Trump said that he ordered the Justice Department to investigate the Democrats for threatening the Republicans.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that Democrats are going around threatening a lot of people, including the Attorney General of the United States and others, with impeachment and many other forms of punishment. He added that they admit they have no reason to do so and that there have been no impeachable acts committed or even thought of by the victims of this illegal process.

He also stated that threatening letters have been sent to many people, all innocent, from Democrat Political Leaders. Trump declared that this is extortion at the highest level and that they should be held accountable for this.

Trump directs Justice Department to examine Democratic threats

Trump went on to claim that Democrats are threatening Republican donors after their dominant midterm victory, some of the most respected people anywhere in the world, with imprisonment and many other levels of punishment simply because they are Republicans or Republican supporters. He labeled the situation weaponization and lawfare at another level.

He singled out Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, writing that she is saying she is going to go after all young people that believe in Republican values and that give even the slightest inclination to be a Republican. Trump said the imprisonment should be against these extortionists and that Republicans should get smart, fast.

“By copy of this statement, I am ordering the Department of Justice to look into this criminal act, immediately!” he wrote before signing the post. Earlier, after Tuesday’s election results, Trump had named hard-liner Stephen Miller as chief of staff.

Slotkin delivered her comments last week during an appearance at the University of Chicago. According to Mediaite, she said, “I wanna look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president but on the people who enabled him.”

The Michigan Democrat continued, “I want young people coming out of school to say, ‘Should I go work for the Trump administration?’ … I want them to be like, ‘Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want. And so let me avoid participating in that.’ I want that deterrence message sent.”

Some Democrats have identified both Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Todd Blanche as possible targets for impeachment proceedings. Trump had previously explained how he would handle Democrats if they took control after the midterms. Trump’s message presented the collection of statements and alleged threats as the basis for his order to the Justice Department.
