Trump sinks to new level of pettiness, admits he upped Swiss tariffs since he didn’t like how the PM spoke with him over the phone

Donald Trump just wants people to flatter him all the time.

The logic behind the tariffs leveraged against countries by Donald Trump has been put on full display as the president revealed the incredibly petty reason he decided to increase the taxes put on Swiss goods. Turns out it’s all about attitude and how much they’re willing to flatter Trump. Sadly this isn’t even a surprise anymore.

Speaking on Fox News the president revealed that, after his initial tariff of 30% on goods from Switzerland, the country’s then Prime Minister, Karin Keller-Sutter, supposedly called him to negotiate with him over the tax. He claims that she told him Switzerland is a small country and that they wouldn’t be able to pay such a steep tariff. Trump maintained that “we have a $42 billion deficit with you.”

The phone call seemed to irritate Trump as he told the interviewer, “I couldn’t get her off the phone.” He then revealed that he actually decided to increase the tariff on Switzerland to 39% because “I didn’t really like the way she talked to us.” This led to Trump being “inundated by people from Switzerland.”

So there it is, the real reasoning behind Trump’s tariff decisions. He wants all the world leaders to bow down and blow smoke up his you-know-what. If they don’t? He’ll simply raise the tariffs on goods from that country as some pathetic attempt at a power play.

It’s all about Trump’s ego

Trump’s number one priority is and always has been himself, he doesn’t care about torching international relationships or crashing his own economy, he just wants to feel powerful and important. Despite this, his supporters are blind to his immature and destructive attitude, deeming it something to joke about and celebrate instead.

“We love him..” wrote one X account. Another demanded, “If you want to negotiate with the United States, drop the attitude.” They then suggested that Trump’s administration go even further with the tariffs. Yet again, it seems Trump and his supporters just want to see other countries falling in line and kissing the president’s behind.

Despite Trump and his deluded supporters claiming otherwise, the tariffs implemented last year have not been a great success. Instead, American consumers have seen a hike in prices while supermarket shelves remained empty after Trump began his trade war. His aggressive trade policies have only driven former U.S. allies to strengthen their bonds with other global superpowers such as China, further angering the petulant and childish Trump.

Donald Trump wants to be treated like a king and he’s willing to bully and intimidate anyone he has to in order to get what he wants. However, if he continues to do this he’ll only drive his allies further and further away.
