Is Wendy’s really releasing a real-life Krabby Patty?

Or is it still a secret, like the OG burger?

From its joyous lineup of Halloween episodes to gut-busting Squidward memes, SpongeBob SquarePants is a national treasure, plain and simple. So when rumblings of a real-life Krabby Patty coming to Wendy’s happen, it’s not a major shock that folks become immediately interested.

For some context, the Krabby Patty is a popular hamburger sold by the fictional Krusty Krab restaurant in the beloved Nickelodeon series. As the main fry cook of the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob is often in charge of cooking up servings of the Krabby Patty for the establishment’s loyal customers, although it is well-known throughout the lore that the formula for the Krabby Patty is a secret and kept sealed by SpongeBob’s boss, Mr. Krabs.

Aside from the customers who enjoy the hamburger’s delicious taste, Plankton, Mr. Krab’s sworn enemy, constantly attempts to steal the recipe so that he can make the Krabby Patty at his lowly restaurant, the Chum Bucket — which is directly across the street from the Krusty Krab. Despite his persistence, however, Plankton has never been able to secure the secret formula from Mr. Krabs or SpongeBob.

So, with SpongeBob SquarePants celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, it hardly comes as a surprise that die-hards are wondering if the rumors are true that the fast-food chain Wendy’s is releasing a real-life Krabby Patty for purchase alongside a delectable Frosty.

The real-life Krabby Patty coming to Wendy’s, explained

As of right now, the Krabby Patty menu item coming to Wendy’s has yet to be officially confirmed by any credible source, but the rumors are certainly flying sky-high all over social media. These eye-catching rumors have been fueled by a leaked memo from Wendy’s corporate offices that hints the Krabby Patty will be made available this fall.

According to the leaked memo, the official Krabby Patty burger will include meat — although the burger in the television series does not — and will be topped with “a secret Krabby Patty Sauce” to further enhance the flavor and attract longtime viewers of the animated series.

Along with these spicy rumors about the Krabby Patty itself, an alleged Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty — with mango puree and vanilla flavoring — is also rumored to debut alongside the special burger, making this fast-food meal one of the most anticipated in years. For now, however, it’s best to wait for official confirmation about the menu addition, of which we will of course keep you apprised. We’re so ready to indulge in our own taste of Bikini Bottom.
