Aliyah, who posts on TikTok as @allforaliyah, shared a video she said was filmed that day inside a WinCo in Marysville, Washington, around 2:30 p.m. The clip is shot from her point of view and has drawn 2.2 million views. It opens near the deli section, where she walks up to a man and asks if he just took her picture.
In the video, the man is wearing a green dinosaur-print T-shirt, jeans, and glasses, and he is standing with his arms crossed. Another man in a grey shirt stands behind a shopping cart filled with groceries and watches without speaking. Aliyah asks, “Did you just take a picture of me?” The man in the green shirt answers, “Yeah.”
She follows with, “Why’d you take a picture of me?” and then, “I know, but what does that mean though?” She also asks, “Why do you think it’s okay for you to take pictures of me?” He replies, “I apologize. I did delete it already.” When she says, “Okay, well let me see that you deleted it,” he answers, “Absolutely,” and starts toward her. She puts a hand out and says, “Don’t get close to me.”
The man offered his phone after she asked for proof
He stops and asks, “Okay, well how am I going to show you that I deleted it?” She tells him, “You can show me with your phone held up and show me your recently deleted too.” He says, “I don’t know how to do that, but here’s my camera,” and holds the phone up with the camera app open. He then says, “Just take my phone.”
Aliyah says, “That’s so crazy. I had a young girl come up to me and tell me that you were taking pictures of me. You have kids.” The man answers, “That’s true.” She says, “I’m so pi–ed.” He responds, “Well, I’m pi–ed too that most women look horrible.” She answers, “Yeah, but that doesn’t give you a right to take pictures of people.” He gestures with both hands, and the video ends.
In her caption, Aliyah said the man followed her into the store, took a picture of her, walked away, and said, “you’re so F–king hot,” while she was grocery shopping. She wrote that a girl came up, asked if she was with the man, and that she said no. She said the girl then told her he had been taking pictures of her and had said that line without her acknowledgment or consent.
She wrote that she had no clue who the man was, or who the other man in the video was. She said she was assuming he was married because of a ring on his finger, and that his phone had pictures of children on it, which she described as little girls. She added that she did not know whether those were his kids.
Aliyah said her excuse, as she understood it, was that she looked good. She described what she was wearing as leggings, a Lulu jacket, and jogging shoes, with no makeup and her hair in a claw clip, and called that her usual errand outfit. The encounter is one of several in which a woman has confronted a man she believed was watching or photographing her, such as the Alabama woman who recorded a man watching her.
She said none of that should matter, and described the behavior as unprovoked. She wrote that she was shaking and had to leave the store, which she said was why the video ended so quickly, and she asked people to find him and hold him accountable.
Viewers focused on how direct he was in the exchange. One commenter wrote, “I didn’t expect him to be this honest d–n.” Another pointed to the fact that she was filming and wrote, “While your recording him.” A third commenter reacted to his tone and wrote, “his calmness is disgusting.” Grocery store encounters with strangers have drawn attention on social media before, as when a woman warns a mom that a man is following her through the store.
Some comments treated the moment as something that might happen more than once. One person wrote, “He gives 0 f–ks btw. This must be something he does normally.” Another questioned his gaze in the clip and wrote, “wrf is he still looking up and down at u like this is perfectly normal.”
A different commenter shifted to the setting itself and wrote, “People have to remember there is no privacy when you are in public.” One more viewer raised the deleted photo and wrote, “Wouldn’t be shocked if he was planning on using AI on those pictures. Well done for standing your ground.”
