A New York woman said she hired a moving service, then filmed what she described as the condition of her apartment after the crew left. Ella, who posts on TikTok as @ellainnyc, shared a first-person walkthrough of the rooms. The video had drawn 106,500 views.
On-screen text at the start of the clip read, “HOW PIECE OF CAKE MOVING LEFT MY APARTMENT:”. In the caption, she wrote, “And I was charged extra??!” That complaint also appeared in the framing of the post as “And I was charged extra?”
The camera opened in the kitchen. Counters looked cluttered with food items and bottles, and cabinets were open. The view then moved down to the floor, where trash and a pink towel were visible.
Apartment tour shows rooms, a toilet, and later missing-item claims
From the kitchen, the video moved into the bathroom. The sink and bathtub were visible in the shot. The camera then focused on the toilet, which appeared to contain unflushed waste. Text over that frame read, “Literal s–t in the toilet.”
The tour continued into the living area. Clothes and trash were scattered across the floor. Ella then showed a laundry closet with a washer and dryer, with more mess around the machines.
The camera entered a bedroom with a large window. A pile of bedding and trash lay on the floor. The clip ended with a pan back through the apartment. A man in a white T-shirt stood in the kitchen in the background. The video did not identify him.
In a comment, Ella wrote that some of her belongings were gone. She said, “A tv, 2 bottles of scotch, and my ID are mysteriously missing…” She did not say in that comment how she concluded the items were taken.
She later posted another update comment about the company. She wrote, “Update: they’ve offered a refund and to back and pack up the remaining items.” The video itself did not show a written offer or name the person who made it.
Viewers responded with their own accounts of Piece of Cake Moving. One commenter suggested the crew had stayed in the apartment instead of only moving items. They wrote, “I think they just chilled , had a party, and left.”
Another commenter said the company was no longer allowed in their building. They wrote, “They’re banned from my building.” The comment did not name the building or say who issued the ban. For moving companies, the complaints don’t stop at discounts for influencers, as a Pittsburgh woman claims workers laughed at and filmed her disabled mom and threatened to steal her stuff.
A third commenter claimed the company often discounts moves for influencers for publicity, while friends had a different result. They wrote, “They discount so many influencers moves for good pr, but this has been many of my friends experiences with them.” In a different case, one woman showed what customer service told her after her $200 dress allegedly melted.
One viewer described damage during their own move and said the response stopped at photos. They wrote, “They broke some of my furniture and all they did was take pictures of the “damages” and did absolutely nothing about it! Crazy.” Not every comment described a bad job. One person said their own move went well. They wrote, “I actually had a really good experience with them. The crew was amazing.”
