‘Acting like he’s the victim’: Man interrupts girl’s pickleball game to ask a question but TikTok clocks his ulterior motives

He didn't really want to know about the pickleball.

A video on TikTok has sparked a heated debate online after a woman posted a clip of a man interrupting her and her friend’s game of pickleball to ask a seemingly innocent question. However, many suspect that the man had less than innocent intentions.

In the short video, the woman and her friend can be seen enjoying their game when a man’s voice is heard off-camera. “I just have one crazy question,” he shouts to the girl nearest the camera, “what is this?” The woman then responds “what do you mean what is this” and the man says “like what are you guys doing?” The girl doesn’t speak but simply gestures to the pickleball court, prompting the man to snarkily respond, “No s— Sherlock, but is it like a club?”

The interaction was posted by “Almezzzy” and has got people on TikTok divided. Some say that she was in the wrong for being rude to a man who was asking an innocent question. Others suspect that the man was trying to flirt, and badly at that.

The response on TikTok

Plenty of people in the comments were quick to defend the man, “Bro was genuinely curious and in return he got attitude,” wrote one, another added that he “did nothing wrong.” The discourse around this seemingly insignificant interaction is quite divided, similar to the current conversation surrounding the DoorDash girl.

Others went further and turned the tables to make it seem as though the woman was the one being rude for not giving her time to the man. “You couldn’t just answer the question?” Asked one viewer, adding, “good for him for snapping back.”

Why is the man’s approach an issue

On the other hand, many sided with the woman who simply wanted to enjoy her game without interruptions, “Genuine or not. He is interrupting their time.” While the interruption is bad enough, plenty believed that his ignorance regarding pickleball was simply a ploy to try and strike up a conversation and flirt with the woman, “I need everyone to get real, his question is not genuine,” wrote one commenter.

But it gets worse as a second video posted by Almezzzy shows more of the conversation and it becomes blatantly obvious that the man was only interrupting her game to try and flirt, he even throws in a backhanded compliment, AKA negging, in case he wasn’t already enough of a red flag.

Another TikToker by the name of Ruthillea made her own response to the video in which she asserted that “men do not talk to strange women that don’t want to f—.”

If anything it seems the woman in the original video was actually too nice to the guy considering how obvious his intentions were. Unfortunately this is a more tame example of the kind of behavior many women have to put up with from men. She didn’t owe him her time and she certainly didn’t have to be polite.
