‘All for a Snoopy cup’: Customer wreaks havoc in Dallas Starbucks and cuts the queue for the coffeehouse’s latest merch

Some customers will do anything for a collectible Starbucks tumbler.

Viral footage shows a Starbucks customer in Dallas wreaking havoc in the store after attempting to cut the queue of other customers all waiting patiently to get their hands on the new merch. The merch in question was a 16-ounce stainless steel tumbler bearing the likeness of Snoopy, the popular character from the Peanuts cartoon.

Starbucks tumblers have always had a hold on coffee lovers, so it’s no surprise the fall-themed Snoopy cup sold out within hours of being released. However, collectibles such as this can sometimes bring out the worst in people, and in this case, one Starbucks customer who has been labeled a “Karen” by Netizens on TikTok allowed her overwhelming desire to get her hands on the sacred Snoopy cup to get the better of her.

The clip, which has received almost 8 million views at the time of writing, shows the unnamed customer appearing to try to wrestle something out of a Starbucks employee’s hands. As she does so, she knocks items off the counter, making a mess on the shop floor.

Lina, the person who recorded the coffeehouse meltdown, claimed that the customer had also jumped the queue to get her hands on the Snoopy cup. The Starbucks staff, who are no doubt used to such behavior from customers, allegedly refused service. The refusal prompted the aggressive attempt to snatch the cup from the employee.

All this for a Snoopy cup

Lina wasn’t the only person to capture the public temper tantrum, as a TikTok user by the name of Lizzet Mata posted another POV of the incident. In the video, the angry customer is heard yelling, “I’m a customer, I pay.” Lizzet’s video then shows the customer seemingly trying to get back to her previous position in the queue, prompting an argument with other customers.

TikTok comments mostly agreed that the customer was being overly-dramatic and that no Starbucks cup could be worth that level of rage. One person asked, “And then what are you gonna do with it? Lol. Was it really worth all that trouble[?]” Others claimed they could get the same product for much cheaper on Temu.

There is usually a lot of demand for cups and tumblers released by the coffeehouse. The products are often seen as collectibles, and the scarcity often leads to people paying high prices just to own one. The Snoopy mug is already being sold for $200 by resellers after the popular cup sold out.

A few commenters suggested that Starbucks sell the cups “online only” to avoid such disastrous incidents in-store. Others said the Starbucks near them had plenty in stock and there was no need for customers to get aggressive. Meanwhile, one person simply implored people to “stop. going. to. Starbucks.”
