It seems sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s has unwittingly become the latest setting for birthday blues. A customer visited a Baltimore branch on Sunday to redeem her birthday reward, only for the interaction to devolve into a profanity-filled confrontation that somehow ended up on the internet. As expected, everyone had an opinion.
The customer, Meisha, whose birthday happened to fall that day, allegedly had a simple plan for celebrating: visiting businesses offering birthday perks. “I visited other businesses on my birthday and had no issues redeeming my birthday offers or being treated with courtesy,” she told the Daily Mail.
Screenshots circulating online appear to show the Jersey Mike’s app advertising a birthday reward of 72 Shore Points — enough for a free sub — for registered customers. Still, when Meisha arrived at the Baltimore location, an employee identified as David refused to honor the offer.
She threatened with legal action
The video begins well after the disagreement had already escalated, making it impossible to determine exactly what sparked the confrontation or why the reward was allegedly denied. What is clear, however, is that the exchange became far more heated than a typical dispute between a customer and an employee.
David can be heard repeatedly telling Meisha to “get the f**k out” and saying, “F**k your birthday.” Meanwhile, Meisha continued recording, asking to speak with a manager and threatening legal action.
She repeatedly told David he would lose his job over the incident. Rather than respond, he largely smirked. The confrontation continued until Meisha collected her receipt, at which point she again warned him that she would make sure he was fired.
Later, she told the Daily Mail, “No customer should have to experience this in an establishment that is supposed to be welcoming and provide good customer service.”
The video quickly spread across X, where the debate took on a life of its own. Some commenters argued the incident was being unfairly framed around race. One wrote, “For all the people claiming he’s being racist, notice the color of every other person in there and nobody says anything to him about it being racist.”
Civil Rights was created for everyone to be treated equally! Unfortunately nowadays we culture of ENTITLED People who expect and demand special treatment & privileges. When you don’t give into their BS. They scream, shout , make a big scene .

Others focused instead on the customer. One user, who acknowledged that Jersey Mike’s does offer birthday rewards, wrote, “She’s just annoying. If she had the app she would have used it properly instead of acting entitled.” The reactions were mixed, but one theme kept resurfacing: many viewers felt the confrontation escalated far beyond than it needed to.

She claims the restaurant reached out
Jersey Mike’s has not publicly addressed the incident. Meisha, however, claims she has since spoken privately with company management, though she chose not to disclose the details of those conversations.
People online continue to debate who was more at fault. But with only a partial recording of the exchange, it’s difficult to determine exactly how the confrontation reached that point. What is evident is that once both sides resorted to threats and profanity, any chance of resolving the disagreement had largely disappeared.
Hopefully, the main takeaway is a simple one: few arguments improve once everyone starts yelling.
