California remains one of the nation’s top offenders for human trafficking cases, according to the California Department of Justice.
State officials say minors are especially vulnerable to exploitation, grooming, and harassment in public places, including workplaces and restaurants. In 2020 alone, more than 1,300 human trafficking cases were reported in California, more than any other state in the nation.
That broader concern is part of why a recent TikTok video from creator Mac Fame has resonated with viewers after he confronted a man his family says was harassing his 16-year-old daughter at her restaurant job.
In the video, Mac Fame (@macfame) explained in the caption that his teenage daughter called her parents after a customer allegedly began following her around the restaurant while she was working.
According to the caption, the teen told the man she was underage in an attempt to discourage him. The father said the man allegedly responded, “That’s fine, I’m only 30.”
The creator wrote that the situation escalated to the point where the restaurant manager reportedly walked the girl to her car during a meal break because staff members were concerned about her safety.
Her dad: “Hey, bro. Let me holler at you real quick”
Mac Fame said he and his wife immediately drove to the restaurant after learning the man was still there.
The TikTok video begins with the father confronting a man outside the restaurant parking lot. “Hey, bro. Let me holler at you real quick,” he says in the video.
He then warns the man to stay away from his daughter. “The waitress that works in there is my daughter,” he says. “If I find out that you’re approaching her, speaking to her in any kind of way, it’s gonna be a f—king problem. Stay away from my daughter. Get your food and go.”
The man appears to deny wrongdoing before responding, “Okay, okay.” At one point in the exchange, the man says, “I’ll come back in 30 years.” The video later shows Mac Fame speaking with restaurant employees inside the business. One worker appears relieved that the father showed up after the teen contacted her parents.
A restaurant employee responds by thanking him and confirming that the teen had called her father for help. “You came in over here? Yep,” the employee says. “I love that. That’s great.” Another worker tells the father that the man had also been “talking to one of my coworkers.”
Mac Fame wrote in the caption that after the confrontation, the man allegedly returned inside, gathered his group, and left the restaurant, muttering comments under his breath. The creator also claimed members of the group yelled remarks from the parking lot before driving away. Mac Fame’s video did not identify the restaurant or the man involved, and no police report was referenced in the post.
