They were denied compensation.

A TikTok user said a shower at a Crete, Greece resort opened onto a working maintenance area. Connor, who posts as @clw016, shared the claim in a video that had drawn about 852,600 views, and he opened the caption with the line “Free peep show with every booking, apparently.”

On-screen text in that first video read, “POV: You pay for a luxury adults-only resort in Crete and realise your shower comes with a live audience.” A narrator read the line as the camera moved from a bathroom vanity into a tiled shower, where cardboard was taped over a wall grille. A hand peeled the cardboard away, and the clip moved up to the slats.
Through those slats, the video showed a brightly lit room with pipes and machinery that looked like a maintenance corridor. Connor wrote that he and another guest noticed light, noise, and the smell of fumes coming through the shower vent at Sea Side A Lifestyle Resort in Crete, which he said is part of Omicron Hotels and was booked through a European travel companion app named TUI.
TUI repeats that no compensation is due after the clips spread
Connor said the grille was open and unbacked, looking straight into an active boiler and filtration room and a maintenance corridor behind the wall. He wrote that management told them, “This is the room type you booked,” and “every room on your block is like it.”
Free peep show with every booking, apparently. 💀🚿 Now that we’ve checked out, here is the reality of staying at Sea Side A Lifestyle Resort in Crete (part of Omicron Hotels), booked through TUI. We noticed light, noise, and the smell of fumes coming through our shower vent, only to find an open, unbacked grille looking straight into an active boiler/filteration room and maintenance corridor behind the wall. When we raised this with management, their actual response was: “This is the room type you booked” and “every room on your block is like it.” Must have missed “pervy vent looking into public plant room” listed under the room features on the TUI app. 🙃 To make it worse, the exterior access door to that corridor right off the public resort footpath was literally propped wide open with a brick all night. Anyone could have walked straight off the path and stood behind our shower wall. They offered to move us to an “alternative” room in the same block, which had the exact same open vent, so we declined as this did not solve our concern. We had to spend our holiday taping cardboard over the grille ourselves just to have a private shower. How a 5-star resort operated by Omicron Hotels and sold by TUI passes basic health, safety, and privacy checks with see-through shower vents is beyond me. A shower should be private, end of. TUI have just told me I’m not eligible for any sort of compensation, which shows how serious they’re this… after nearly 2 weeks of reporting the concern. @TUI UK & Ireland @Omicron Hotels #seasidealifestyleresort#omicronhotels#tui#tuiholidays#luxuryresort
He also claimed the exterior door to that corridor, right off a public resort footpath, was propped wide open with a brick all night. In his account, anyone could have walked off the path and stood behind the shower wall. He said staff offered an alternative room in the same block that had the same open vent, so they declined.
Connor wrote that they spent the holiday taping cardboard over the grille so the shower would be private. In a reply, he said, “We put the cardboard up, otherwise there’s nothing obstructing the view.” He added that TUI told him he was not eligible for any compensation after nearly two weeks of reporting the concern.
In a later comment, Connor said the case had been pulled from general customer service and escalated to the Director’s Office under a new reference number. He said he had insisted that all correspondence stay in writing for an ongoing ABTA dispute. What a shower vent can hide has guests on edge, as when a man renting anAirbnb in Texas found a river running through all the AC vents.
A second TikTok video carried the on-screen line, “TUI called after 700k views on the shower vent video. Their response? Exactly the same!!!” Connor wrote that TUI customer relations phoned him after the original video passed 700,000 views across TikTok and Instagram. He quoted their stance as, “Thanks for the feedback, we’re sorry for the inconvenience, but you’re not entitled to any compensation from us.”
He said he asked on the call how the company could put guests in a room where anyone could see into the shower while they were naked. He also said he asked whether the answer would still be thanks for the feedback if children were in that shower at a family resort.
He claimed they had paid extra to upgrade to a suite with a private pool, and that management had admitted in writing that the whole block had the same design. Shower privacy can fail in unexpected places, as onemortified Arizona couple discovered after buying a new home and checking the shower from outside.
Replying to @itsjess_23 Update on the 5-star Crete shower vent situation at Seaside A Lifestyle Resort & Spa. After the original video hit over 700k views across TikTok and Instagram, TUI customer relations phoned me today. Their official stance? They doubled down. “Thanks for the feedback, we’re sorry for the inconvenience, but you’re not entitled to any compensation from us.” I asked them directly on the phone: how does a major travel company think it is acceptable to put guests in a room where anyone can see straight into the private shower while they are naked? I also asked them straight: if this was a family resort and children were in that shower, would their response still be “thanks for the feedback”? Why does basic safety and modesty get treated as an afterthought?! We paid extra specifically to upgrade this suite with a private pool, only to find an open slatted vent looking directly into an active boiler corridor behind the shower wall. Management admitted in writing that the entire block has the same design. The exterior service door from the public path was left propped wide open with a brick at 23:30 at night, and resort maintenance hung a bath towel over the hole as their “solution.” Treating a fundamental breach of privacy and hotel security as mere “feedback” is mind-blowing. The dispute has now been officially escalated to ABTA. Would you accept a bath towel and “thanks for the feedback” after this? #seasidealifestyleresort#crete#tui#tuiholidays#luxuryresort @TUI UK & Ireland @Omicron Hotels
Connor wrote that the service door was left open with a brick at 23:30, and that resort maintenance hung a bath towel over the opening as a solution. He said the dispute had been officially escalated to ABTA, and he asked viewers whether they would accept a bath towel and that feedback line after this.
In a third update on TikTok, on-screen text read, “UPDATE: Hoping for 3rd time lucky, but TUI fails to respond or take customer safety seriously,” with a later line, “At least the resort management responded. Kind of…” He wrote that TUI’s Director’s Office had set a 14-day window to investigate and that the deadline had passed without a resolution. He said Omicron Hotels confirmed in a TikTok comment that an inspection led to the opening being permanently sealed, then deleted that statement on Instagram while it remained on TikTok.
Connor said he was not taking those statements at face value without a formal response from TUI or evidence of the work. He wrote that timestamped evidence had already gone to the ABTA dispute, and he said the posts had reached more than 4.8 million views. He also wrote that other commenters had described their own cases in which they said TUI did not respond to serious issues.
Replying to @omicron.hotels Update on our TUI Crete holiday – or should I say, lack of an update!!! TUI’s Director’s Office set themselves a 14-day window to investigate the unbacked shower vent looking directly into an active, unsecured maintenance corridor. That deadline has now fully passed, and TUI fails to respond with any resolution whatsoever. While TUI chose complete silence, resort management (Omicron Hotels) publicly confirmed in the comments on TikTok that following an inspection, the opening had to be permanently sealed. Interestingly, they quickly deleted that exact statement from Instagram, but the confirmation remains live on TikTok (as replied in this video). Given that TUI’s on-site team previously deemed hanging a bath towel over the opening an acceptable solution, and in the total absence of any formal response from their office or evidence of the remedial work, I am certainly not taking these third-party statements at face value. However, they do confirm that the room failed to meet basic standards of guest privacy and safety. All timestamped evidence has already been submitted to our active ABTA dispute. Reading through the comments on our previous videos has been an eye-opener. I never thought I’d get 4.8+ million views, but I’m glad I’ve been able to raise awareness! A good few people have shared their own experiences of how TUI fails to respond to serious issues, stonewalling complaints and showing zero concern for customer safety the moment something goes wrong. TUI loves to advertise crossing the ‘T’s, dotting the ‘I’s, and putting ‘U’ in the middle. In reality, they put paying guests in a shower with zero privacy or basic safeguarding, failed to do standard due diligence, and then met a serious safety failure with total radio silence. A company that fails to respond when their customers face an obvious safeguarding risk does not care about your safety or your rights once they have your money. Think twice before booking your holidays with TUI. Full story and earlier footage in previous videos. @TUI UK & Ireland @Omicron Hotels #TUI#HolidayFail#TuiHolidays#Crete#Seasidealifestyleresort
Viewers answered under the first video. One wrote, “5 star my ahh…This is probably 3 star.” Another said, “lol that is what you get when booking with TUI. The hotel put you in the worst category/room. Never use a third party.” A third offered, “Pro Tip: leave the cover and there will be no audience.” Another commenter wrote, “That’s absolutely disgusting I would be wanting a refund and as a woman I would absolutely not want to stay there!!”
