A Delta Air Lines employee was filmed standing in the aisle of an aircraft and addressing a group of passengers in a firm tone. Diana Amin, who posts on TikTok as @diana.aminn, shared the clip that has gained over a million views. In the video, the employee, a woman with braided hair wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and gray pants, gestured while speaking to passengers seated further back.
She said, “And for y’all to be a missionary group, you speaking a lot.” She added, “If I stay on this flight anymore, this whole flight won’t be going. We going to cancel the whole flight, so y’all wasting time.” As she turned and walked toward the front of the plane, a seated passenger quietly responded, “May God bless you.” The caption on the TikTok post read, “discrimination at it’s finest @delta.”
Diana later explained in a comment that there had been confusion because seats were being assigned and changed at the gate, and the updates were not reflecting on the flight system. She said the group had already been waiting for over two hours because of the flight delay and that they were simply doing their best to follow instructions and get everyone seated and boarded as quickly as possible.
Passengers recount pre-boarding bag rules and seat changes on the delayed flight
In a follow-up TikTok video, Diana sat in a car and walked through the events that she said led up to the confrontation. She stated that the flight was already two hours delayed when boarding began and that the gate agent told passengers they needed to move quickly to avoid a timeout. She said the gate agent also announced that everyone should stand in a single line “like high school.”
Diana explained that after Group A boarded, the gate agent announced that all passengers with carry-on bags needed to check them. She said her group of about 30 was prepared to comply, but their priest wanted to keep one bag because it held items that could break. Diana said she approached the gate agent and asked if the priest could keep the bag. According to Diana, the agent replied that if she made an exception for him, she would have to make one for everyone.
Diana said the priest then told her to board with the others while he stayed behind to ask further. She stated that she asked a flight attendant on the plane, who responded, “of course, honey.” Diana said that when the gate agent learned the priest would be allowed to keep the bag, the agent became frustrated, yelled about the delays, and then told everyone they could keep their carry-ons.
Once on the plane, Diana said she was in a middle seat in row 20. She explained that her friend Luke could not find his seat because the assignments had been updated at boarding and no paper tickets had been provided. She said his phone showed D20, but the seat had changed to D21. Diana stated that she told Luke to sit next to her quickly so other passengers could continue boarding while they sorted it out.
Diana said the gate agent then appeared on the plane and asked her, “do you want to be removed from the flight?” She described herself as shaking and scared by the question. She said the agent later yelled at Luke to show his ticket, which was not updated, and accused the three people in his row of being in the wrong seats without checking.
Diana stated that the agent said, “if there is an emergency, you guys, we won’t know where you guys are sitting,” and later asked others, “do you want to be removed with her?” Disputes over onboard rules have gone viral before, as one Delta flight attendant allegedly asked a passenger to cover up.
Diana said that was when the agent made the remark about the group being on a mission trip. She stated that they were not on a missionary trip and that the comment made her very anxious. She said she never raised her voice or disrespected the agent and that she remained composed even though she feared being removed.
She added that strangers nearby later apologized to her group and that most of the flight attendants on the plane had been helpful. She said she does not want the gate agent fired but does not want to fly Delta again. Not every crew interaction ends peacefully, though, as another flight attendant allegedly snapped over a passenger’s ice request in a separate viral video.
Viewers left mixed reactions under the original video. One commenter questioned the hiring process at the airline, writing, “Delta hires people like this to be a FA but I have been applying for years and haven’t even gotten a interview.” Another said they needed more context, writing, “I need to see the whole thing to have an opinion.”
A third commenter asked what the group had done, writing, “OK but what were y’all doing to set her off.” One viewer wrote, “Customer service has declined so fast,” while another stated, “I would tell her to mind her own business.”
