‘FEELING STUCK’: Milwaukee man incurs instant karma after choosing to ignore a city warning sign rather than reroute

Patience, my good sir, is a much-needed virtue.

When a city puts a sign up, it’s usually a good idea to assume that it is there for a reason. Especially when the sign says, Road Closed. It is a very expensive lesson that one driver in Milwaukee just learned the hard way, through a moment of instant karma. When they came across a clearly marked construction cone, they chose to physically remove the barrier instead of taking a detour.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation shared the rather hilarious details of this mishap on Facebook. Per BroBible, the Department had a good bit of fun reporting that the motorist managed to get their pickup truck bumper-deep in the wet cement after ignoring the warnings.

The photos released by the department show the truck firmly planted in the grey sludge, and it is safe to assume that the vehicle is likely totaled. Repairing a car that has had its undercarriage and engine bay filled with drying concrete is a nightmare scenario. It’s a costly mistake that could have been avoided with Google Maps.

Impatience should never outweigh common sense

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation wrote, “FEELING STUCK: A motorist in Milwaukee County recently cemented their inability to adhere to signs after physically removing a ‘road closed’ barrier and proceeding to drive into freshly poured concrete at the I-41/894/US 45 and National Avenue interchange.”

As reported by Fox9, the department is using this moment to remind everyone to respect the barriers set up by construction crews. The agency highlighted that these precautions exist to keep both the motorists and the workers safe.

Their official statement on the matter was blunt. It stated, “Crews place barricades and signs for your safety and theirs. Please – never remove or ignore ‘road closed’ or any other types of barriers… or this might happen to you!”

Hilariously, the internet did not hold, and the post generated plenty of comical commentary from people who could not believe someone would be so bold and so foolish at the same time. One person joked, “Florida Man has moved to Wisconsin,” while another user quipped, “That’s not concrete, that’s karmacrete.”

Some of the reactions, while still funny, were harsh. One user wrote, “The driver has cemented his/her status as a possible candidate for the Darwin Awards.”

Another reader brought up a comparison to a different viral event, saying, “That guy is as brilliant as the guy who drove his Tesla truck into a lake and told authorities he thought it would be okay because it was in ‘wade mode.’”

Interestingly, this is not the first time something like this has happened in the state. One commenter shared a story of seeing this behavior before while working with a highway paving crew in Viroqua, Wisconsin.

They noted, “They went in with the end loader with forks on it and showed no mercy to that vehicle. Actually, it happened twice.” It seems that no matter how many barriers are put in place, there will always be a few drivers who think they can outsmart a construction project.

Seeing this truck stuck in the concrete is a perfect visual of people who don’t think the rules apply to them. It is much easier to add a few minutes to your commute than it is to explain to your insurance company why your truck is now a permanent fixture in a highway on-ramp. Hopefully, this driver learned their lesson.
