Georgia woman dumped after boyfriend sees AI girl in Facebook Marketplace ad she created: ‘Conventionally attractive’

A Facebook Marketplace listing exposed a much bigger problem in a relationship.

A Georgia woman says a Facebook Marketplace listing featuring an AI-generated woman exposed a much bigger problem in her relationship. According to Savannah (@savsilby), what started as a viral selling trick ended with her boyfriend admitting the fake woman gave him “lustful thoughts” before breaking up with her days later.

In a TikTok video posted in early July 2026, Savannah explained that her sister had been struggling to sell a table on Facebook Marketplace. After seeing a popular online trend, she decided to experiment with it herself. “I was like, yo, let me do that trend where people put a hot AI girl on the post, and then it sells,” Savannah said.

According to Savannah, who is blonde, she generated an image of a brunette woman wearing a University of Georgia crop top and included it in the listing. The tactic appeared to work, attracting significantly more attention to the post. She thought the situation was funny and sent the listing to her then-boyfriend.

The AI woman came up in conversation, Savannah said

Later that evening, however, Savannah’s boyfriend brought up the AI image. “He said, ‘Yeah, that girl, like, that picture was giving me lustful thoughts,'” Savannah recalled. Caught off guard, she asked what he meant. According to Savannah, he responded that the AI woman was “just so conventionally attractive.”

For Savannah, the comment stung because she said her boyfriend had frequently encouraged her to dye her hair brunette despite her being blonde. She joked that she spends too much money on her hair to change her hair color.

She also questioned why he had pursued her in the first place. “Why did you date me if I’m blonde and you don’t like blondes?” Savannah recalled asking.

Savannah said the conversation happened on a Thursday. Then she said her boyfriend became distant afterward, although she didn’t initially realize why. A few days later, she said she received a lengthy breakup text around 8 a.m. after he finished his night shift. “Savannah, I can’t give you the love you deserve,” she recalled the message saying

Unwilling to let the relationship end over text, she called him immediately. While crying and asking him to reconsider, Savannah said he refused to continue the relationship and suggested that “things have just changed since Thursday,” or the day she sent him the AI-generated image. She ultimately concluded that he had fallen out of love with her because of an AI girl.

Viewers say the AI image wasn’t the real problem. Some commenters argued that the AI image merely revealed issues that already existed. One comment read, “Sounds like that had been on his mind for a while. do not get back with him. I guarantee this is one of the biggest blessings in disguise you’ve had in your life. seriously, I’m 💯 percent sure.”

AI companions on the rise

Although Savannah’s story may sound unusual, researchers have tracked a growing number of people forming emotional and sometimes romantic attachments to AI-generated companions.

Apps such as Replika and Character.AI allow users to build ongoing conversations with AI personalities, while psychologists have warned that some users develop strong emotional bonds with digital companions. Researchers say these relationships can sometimes influence expectations about real-life partners, though researchers are studying the long-term effects.
