A Charlotte content creator said in a TikTok video that her friend left a third date after the man she had been seeing told her he had been putting things in her drinks. Ashley Class, who posts as @chaosinthecarolinas, said the friend, whom she called Jen, had given her permission to share the account so other women would hear it. The video has gained 562,600 views, 67,200 likes and more than 2,300 comments.
Class said in the video caption, “I’m so floored. Is this normal?” She described Jen as an accountant who had gone on three dates with a man she identified as Ryan. Class said all of the dates had been in South End and that Ryan also lived there and worked in finance.
On the third date, Class said, Ryan paid the check and then told Jen he had been putting her through tests and that she had “passed with flying colors.” Class said Jen asked what he meant. According to Class, he said he had been putting things in her drink on the last three dates and that she had not complained to the bar staff.
Police report follows after flowers keep arriving
Class said Ryan told Jen the tests mattered to him and to his group of friends, whom she identified as University of South Carolina graduates. She said he told Jen he had taken videos so that he would not be sued. Class said he described the first date as the one where he put sugar in the drink and noted that Jen made a face but did not speak up.
On the second date, Class said he told Jen he put pepper in the drink. She said Jen mentioned that the drink tasted off, but still drank it and did not complain. Class said Ryan then told Jen that on the third date, he had put his pubic hair in her drink. Class said Jen’s response was “Excuse me?” and that she was speechless, and that she told him she needed to go home.
Class said he then said he had a great time and wanted to invite her to his place. In a later TikTok video, Class said Jen had filed a police report. She said Jen had Ring doorbell footage and had texted him multiple times, but that he still showed up with flowers. Class said he appeared to believe they were soulmates because she had passed what she called the three-day test.
She later gave more details in a second video. She said she had been allowed to share. She identified him as Ryan G., about 31 or 32, living in South End in a rented apartment or townhome close to Triple C Brewing. She said they met on Hinge, talked for about three weeks before the first date, and that he called every night for conversations that lasted an hour or more. In another video she said they had talked for over six weeks by the time of the third date.
Class said Jen was advised not to post his last name. She said a potential restraining order was still in progress because Jen had to go to court. Class also said other people had messaged her privately and commented that something similar had happened to them, and she asked anyone with screenshots they were comfortable sharing to contact her.
In another TikTok video, Class said she hated comments that Jen should never have left her drink unattended and called that victim shaming. She reminded people that it was 2026 and called on them to stop judging the victim and focusing on what Jen could have done. Drink tampering can escalate quickly, as when a woman realizes her date spiked her drink and panics when he insists on taking her to his place.
She said they had talked for an hour every night and texted throughout the day by the third date, and she asked whether people take a drink from the restaurant with them to the bathroom. She said he could have put something in the food as well. Class said people should listen and learn from the story but not judge.

One commenter who identified as a single woman in Charlotte wrote, “As a single girl in Charlotte – THIS is why I choose the bear. Thanks for sharing. I hope your friend is doing okay.” Another wrote, “She can sue him for this. This is illegal!!” Such alarming dating experiences can escalate quickly, as in a separate case where a woman goes on one date, and the man allegedly appeared at her house with a suitcase.
