A woman said in a TikTok video that she was fighting happy tears as she described adding her mother to a family cruise that had first been planned around her daughter’s birthday. Angela Nutt, who posts as @angelanutt5, said she was trying not to cry. The video has drawn 16,300 views.
Nutt said she, her husband Jerry, and their daughter Sophie were set to leave Galveston on Oct. 19. She said Sophie’s birthday is on Halloween. She said the ship was Carnival Jubilee or Carnival Breeze and that she could not remember which one.
She said the trip had been meant for the three of them. She said her mother had never been on a cruise and had always wanted to go, which led her to call Carnival and ask what it would cost to add one more person.

Nutt said Carnival told her the cabin was already booked for four people. She said that if she added her mother that same day, the extra charge would be $271. She said she booked her mother right then. Unexpected fees can quickly change cruise plans, such as when a woman booked the cheapest room on a Carnival cruise for her and her husband, then found out why the room was so cheap.
She said she did not know whether her mother or she was more excited. Wiping her eyes, she said, “Look at god,” and repeated the phrase as she talked about being able to take her mother along. She also joked that the surprise would make her the favorite child.
Nutt said she asked Jerry what he thought. She said he pointed out they would not be able to do much anyway with Sophie in the cabin. She said she planned to take Big Red on the cruise. She described her mother as someone who stays out of the sun. She said that when the family goes to the beach, her mother stays inside the condo cooking or reading a book.
Nutt said her mother had always wanted to go on a cruise “as like a nanny.” She said her mother offered to watch Sophie if Nutt and Jerry wanted to go out at night. She closed by saying she was just excited. She signed off with, “Okay, I love you. Bye.”
Some viewers focused on the gratitude in the clip. One commenter wrote, “God is so wonderful.” Another wrote, “Congrats! Thats awesome sister! Keep doing gods work.”
A third pointed to Carnival’s reputation and wrote, “Girl your mama ain’t never gonna go back when she gets off Carnival. That’s the party boats.” Another commenter wrote, “You’re so blessed to be able to take her. Have the time of your life!!!!” Carnival’s reputation for strong reactions extends beyond celebratory moments, as a Louisiana man alleged staff treated him like a criminal before boarding.
