Man played obscene videos in front of his daughter to desensitize her. Then he gets her pregnant and flees to Africa: ‘Her mother knew’

Diabolical would be an understatement.

A young woman came forward to share her story of years of sexual abuse at the hands of her own father. The story, originally told on the YouTube channel Other People’s Lives, was later summarized by TikTok creator @helloimashy and has since sparked widespread discussion online about child sexual abuse, grooming, and the failure of non-offending parents to protect their children.

According to the account, the abuse did not begin overnight. It started when the girl was still very young, with her father exposing her to pornography openly in the family home. Experts say this is a well-known grooming tactic. Most adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse reported experiencing at least one grooming behavior, with the most common being the abuser presenting himself as kind and trustworthy, isolating the child, and gradually desensitizing her to sexual content.

In the TikTok retelling, @helloimashy makes a point that struck many viewers: “Her mother knew.” According to the survivor’s own account, her mother was aware that her husband was watching pornography openly in front of their child and did nothing to stop it. The survivor said that as an adult looking back, she believes her mother knew about the abuse. The father would also use financial threats to keep his daughter silent, telling her that if she told anyone, the bills would go unpaid.

The mother’s silence is what made people the most angry

The abuse escalated over time and eventually resulted in the daughter becoming pregnant. A DNA test confirmed that the father had impregnated his own child. The survivor, who was 22 years old when she shared her story, said she chose to place the baby up for closed adoption.

After his arrest, the father managed to flee to Africa, where members of the family abroad were seen sending the survivor photos with him, unaware of what he had done.

The story reflects a broader and deeply troubling pattern seen in cases around the world. According to Fox News, a man named Ronald Joseph was sentenced in July 2025 to 12 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to repeatedly raping and impregnating his own 14-year-old daughter.

In North Carolina, a man identified as Julius Grant Jackson was arrested in December 2025 after DNA testing confirmed he had fathered his daughter’s child. The abuse in that case had reportedly begun when she was 13 years old, reports The Express US

What made many people particularly angry about the story shared on TikTok was not just the father’s actions, but the mother’s response. After the abuse came to light, the survivor said her mother acted as though she was the one tearing the family apart, a reaction not unlike cases where parents refuse to hold abusers accountable.

A user in the comments section claimed she had a similar experience. They wrote: “Wow. This is just like my story. I’m not supposed to say much yet, but wow. It’s so similar. I didn’t end up pregnant but I could have. My heart breaks for this little girl”

Her siblings continued to visit the father’s car, which he had parked outside the family home, chatting with him as though nothing had happened. The family members who said they believed the survivor were the same ones who later bailed the father out of jail.

According to RAINN, child protective services substantiate tens of thousands of child sexual abuse cases in the United States each year, yet the majority of incidents are never reported at all. Research shows that only about 3% of incest cases are ever brought to police. Survivors often stay silent due to fear, shame, or threats from their abuser, exactly as described in this case.

The survivor, now an adult, told her story calmly and without her voice breaking, something that @helloimashy noted in her video. “She is one of the strongest people that I know,” the creator said, “and I don’t know her.”
