Man’s lips start swelling after a bee gets into his beer: ‘How do we prove it’s not AI?’

He keeps eating and talking through it, seemingly unbothered by the swelling. The scene plays out over roughly 24 seconds, filmed outside during what looks like an ordinary family dinner.

The video comes from TikTok creator Abby Heinen, who says her sister filmed their father and later sent her the footage. On-screen text explains what viewers are looking at, “my dads allergic reaction to a bee in his beer.” By the time she starts recording, the swelling has already set in, and her dad is going about dinner as though nothing has changed.

“Sending this to all your friends,” Heinen’s sister says early in the clip, turning the camera toward him. “You like can’t make this up,” she adds. The conversation quickly turns to how unbelievable the footage looks. His family’s joke about needing to prove the video isn’t AI makes sense given how dramatic the swelling is. Another influencer’s face also drew disbelief after it swelled up during a pickle-tasting spree.

“How do we prove it’s not AI?”

“How do we prove it’s not AI?” she asks while filming. “Well, you can’t,” her father responds. “You can’t make this s**t up, right?” she says.

The explanation follows shortly after, “There was a bee in his beer.” The camera moves closer to his face as his family jokes about his appearance. “And look at his lips. Look at Seth Rogen’s lips.” He doesn’t seem bothered by the joke. “No, I love it,” he says. His daughter checks in one more time before the clip ends. “And you say this is real,” she asks. “It’s real,” he confirms.

The comments section has mostly centered on how calm he seems given the circumstances. His appearance in the clip has drawn comparisons to other viral videos involving sudden facial swelling, including a Dallas woman whose eyes swelled shut after a family dinner. 

“How is he just chillin and having dinner while actively swelling????” one person wrote. Someone else pointed to a small detail as evidence the clip wasn’t AI, “The napkin wipe proves its not ai.” A third took a lighter view of the whole thing, “he doesn’t even seem phased.”

In the video, the swelling appears to be concentrated around his lips. By the end of the clip, he’s still sitting outside and eating, seemingly more amused by the situation than alarmed by it.

Heinen later shared a video saying that her father is fine, and viewers were relieved to see him doing well after the first clip. “Just came from the other video—he’s a damn trooper!!” one person wrote. Another urged the family, “Pleaseee get him an EpiPen,” while a third asked, “Can you tell Seth to wish me Happy Birthday? I went ahead and sent him the money already.”
