New York man enters a pizza restaurant, sees an employee’s bare foot where it doesn’t belong: ‘Don’t Do This!’

The restaurant could face fines from New York authorities.

A viral video that allegedly shows a New York pizza shop employee resting his bare foot on top of a commercial dough mixer has sparked widespread criticism on social media and renewed discussion about restaurant sanitation. The short video began circulating widely in July 2026 across X, Reddit, and other social platforms.

In the audio, the person recording the video reacts in disbelief as the employee rests his foot on the mixer. The video does not show whether the mixer contained dough. It’s also unclear whether employees used it to prepare food immediately before or after the incident.

The video’s location has not received official confirmation. However, many social media users have claimed the restaurant is $1.50 Delicious Pizza, a low-cost slice shop in Manhattan, based on the evidence shown in the clip.

The place was apparently open, and another employee seemed unbothered

The video shows another employee in the same workspace actively handling flattened dough and stacking empty pizza boxes just feet away from the bare foot. The footage cuts to the front counter area, showing multiple whole pizzas and slices out on display for customers, confirming the shop was actively open and operating at the time

As the footage spread online, many commenters expressed concern about food handling practices. Some users urged others to report the incident to New York City’s health authorities. Others questioned whether the video shows the full context of what happened.

One comment noted, in part, “No context, location, date… not helpful or actionable information.” Another added, “I think the food hygiene standards are pretty clear: Don’t Do This!

New York City’s restaurant inspection system could impose penalties if someone reports the incident to regulators and if investigators determine that the restaurant violated food safety rules. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene conducts routine inspections of food service establishments and may issue violations for unsanitary conditions or improper food handling practices.

If a violation occurs, inspectors can fine restaurants and require them to correct violations. In more serious cases, authorities can temporarily close restaurants until operators eliminate the hazards. Health inspectors typically evaluate employee hygiene, food contact surfaces, and overall sanitation during inspections.

The viral clip itself does not establish that any health code violation occurred. Only health officials can determine whether the restaurant violated any rules through an inspection.

Videos showing questionable food handling have attracted widespread attention. In several previous cases involving national pizza chains, employees faced disciplinary action after videos showing unsanitary behavior spread online. Those incidents prompted public apologies from the companies involved and, in some cases, employee terminations.

At the time of publication, no city agency had publicly confirmed the restaurant’s identity, and the business had not addressed the allegations. As of Friday, no public statement from New York health officials indicated that an investigation was underway.
