A North Carolina woman’s routine trip to a Dollar Tree store turned into a deeply unsettling experience after she reviewed video footage she had recorded during her shopping trip, according to a video posted on TikTok. The user, who goes by @honeygal0re, said she did not realize anything was wrong while she was still inside the store, and that it was only after she got home and watched the recording that she noticed something disturbing in the footage.
According to the videos she posted on TikTok, a man appeared to have been following her through the store while allegedly touching himself. She said she had been deliberately avoiding eye contact with him at the time, which is why she did not catch on to what was allegedly happening. The clips gained hundreds of thousands of views after she shared them online.
In a caption accompanying the first video, she wrote, “I didn’t realize until AFTER I left and watched the video because I would not look at him trying to avoid eye contact! This is sick and nasty. If I would’ve known, I would’ve cursed him out. Please find this man.” She also called on viewers to help identify the individual shown in the footage.
Woman says the man’s girlfriend reached out after the videos went viral
After the videos spread widely on social media, the North Carolina woman said she was contacted by the man’s girlfriend. According to the woman, the girlfriend was respectful during the conversation, but she said the call appeared to be an attempt to get her to take the videos down. She said she had already made up her mind not to delete the footage.
She indicated that the conversation felt more focused on protecting the couple’s reputation than on addressing what she alleged had taken place inside the store. Despite the outreach, she said she stood by her decision to keep the videos up and continue sharing updates about the situation.
In a later video, the woman was seen speaking with police after formally reporting the alleged incident. She said she wanted the matter to be officially documented and taken seriously by authorities. The footage showed her going through the process of filing a report related to what she said occurred at the Dollar Tree location. Other Dollar Tree shoppers have also reported disturbing encounters with staff, including a Kansas woman who faced alleged racist remarks.
Online reactions to her videos appeared largely supportive. Many commenters praised her for taking the situation to law enforcement and said her actions could potentially help protect other women and young people who might encounter similar situations. Viewers also encouraged her to hold onto any evidence and keep working with police.
Several commenters shared that they had experienced similar situations themselves. One wrote, “I’m sorry this happened and pls tell me you called the cops this happened to me before when I was working.”
Another recounted a comparable encounter at a bus station, writing, “I had this happen to me at a bus station. Some old crusty mf was watching me while jerked 10ft away. When caught on I started shouting ‘HE GOT HIS D*** OUT! HE PLAYING WITH HIMSELF!'”
A third commenter simply responded, “Insane.” Similar viral stories of retail harassment have emerged from other North Carolina women, including one who overheard hurtful comments at a clothing store.
Others expressed concern that the alleged behavior might not have been an isolated incident. Some suggested that ignoring or downplaying such situations could allow similar behavior to continue or worsen over time. Many urged the woman not to delete anything and to keep the public informed as the situation developed.
