Popular Twitch streamer Jalen Melton, known as MeltIsLIVE, crashed his car during a live broadcast on a busy Atlanta highway this weekend. Four passengers were also in the vehicle during the terrifying incident. The 24-year-old lost control of his car while driving at high speed, putting everyone’s lives at risk.
According to The Sun, the crash was captured on several camera angles, including the dashcam and a camera pointed at Melton. The footage shows the immediate chaos and the group’s desperate struggle during the collision. The car was completely destroyed and left on the side of the road. All five people walked away without major injuries, which is remarkable given the damage to both the front and back of the vehicle.
The incident happened near the Spring Street and Pine Street exits, causing serious traffic delays. The footage starts with Melton driving with three women and another man. Everyone was smiling, laughing, and listening to loud music. That happy atmosphere disappeared instantly when Melton lost control of the vehicle.
This is the second crash MeltIsLIVE has livestreamed in less than a year
Another driver hit the car, causing it to spin out into the middle of the highway. When the first impact happened, the passengers flew forward. The woman sitting next to Melton immediately covered her face in fear. Melton was clearly struggling with the wheel, trying to regain control as the others held on.
The audio captures the panic of the situation. Screams can be heard in the video as Melton tried one last time to turn the wheel before a massive impact shook the camera and knocked it over. The footage ends with a loud thud and a bright orange light across the screen as the car skids to a stop. Several passengers can be heard making noises as they tried to escape the wrecked vehicle.
MeltIsLIVE has been banned from Twitch for breaking their terms of service. This type of shocking content isn’t new to the internet, similar to when a prop body became a real corpse on a TV show set. This wasn’t Melton’s first time broadcasting a high-speed crash. He filmed himself in another accident on Twitch in April 2024, making this his second livestreamed car crash.
Other content creators have been involved in similar incidents. Streamer Jack Doherty crashed his expensive £100,000 McLaren into the side of a road. Dashboard footage showed him on his phone right before he lost control. His cameraman was left bleeding from the head in that crash. Dangerous content online continues to be a problem, much like when children’s book URLs redirected inappropriately.
The ban from Twitch hopefully sends a message that dangerous behavior won’t be tolerated on the platform. While everyone in Melton’s car walked away without major injuries this time, the risk of livestreaming while driving at high speeds is extremely dangerous.
