UK reality star and magician Damien O’Brien has called out DPD for mishandling his very expensive delivery after he recorded a courier rolling the parcel supposedly containing his pricey PC across the sidewalk. O’Brien also claimed that he heard the deliveryman dragging the box down the stairs.
In a video shared on X, the courier is seen rolling the PC along the sidewalk towards the van. Evidently, the package was too heavy for the deliveryman to carry on his own. O’Brien, who rose to prominence in the UK after appearing as a finalist on Season 14 of Britain’s Got Talent and has since appeared in numerous other magic-themed reality shows, said the package’s contents were particularly fragile, as it contained a PC worth around £3,000 (roughly $4,000).
“When I closed my door it sounded like the courier was dragging it down the stairs.” O’Brien wrote on X. “As he left the building I looked out the window to see him flipping the box!”
It goes without saying that anything worth that much should be handled with a bit more care. However, not all couriers are as capable of being trusted with expensive packages. PCs are particularly fragile, and turning one upside down, on its side, and in all manner of ways while dragging it along the floor is more than likely to damage the PC. As a matter of fact, the PC may never switch on again if the DPD courier has smashed it or knocked something loose in transit.
No response from DPD
O’Brien posted the damning clip on Monday, and in another post from the same day claimed that the post had received 2 million views at the time, and yet he had not received a response or an apology from DPD.
As of writing, it still doesn’t appear as though he has received a public response from the delivery company. However, O’Brien might never get a response; he seems to have tagged the wrong account. Followers pointed out that he had tagged an X account appearing to belong to DPD in the initial post, but it was actually the wrong one and the account he had tagged was likely fake.
Many online sympathized with O’Brien, as there was a good chance his expensive PC was unusable now. “He might as well have played football with it.” Writes X user Krastinator. Meanwhile, another warned, “they gonna say it’s your fault for not putting “fragile” sticker lmao.”” Others shared similar alleged experiences with DPD and other delivery companies, while some blamed O’Brien for not helping the courier, who appeared to be evidently struggling with the package.
