‘Sista you had 3 parachutes’: Woman forgets one crucial piece of skydiving equipment, and the internet is rolling with laughter

At least she can look back and laugh.

A skydiving trip meant to mark a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity turned into a viral internet moment for Channell ‘t Zand after she forgot one key piece of gear: a sports bra.

Zand, 26, is a content creator from Wanica, Suriname, who recently went viral on TikTok after sharing footage of her tandem skydive. According to reporting by Newsweek, the jump took place in November 2025 during special coverage tied to Suriname’s 50th Independence Day celebrations, when she was invited to participate in a warm-up dive with a skydiving group.

“This only happens once a year in my country, so it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” Zand told Newsweek.

Wear loose clothing, they said

Ahead of the jump, Zand said she was advised not to wear anything loose, opting for jeans and a t-shirt. But there was one detail she overlooked—what she wore underneath. She completed the skydive wearing a regular bra instead of a supportive sports bra, something she didn’t fully realize would matter until she watched the footage back.

The dive itself went smoothly, and Zand described the experience as “truly indescribable,” according to Newsweek. But her reaction changed once she reviewed the video.

“At first, I was in awe. But, halfway through, my eyes widened, and then I burst out laughing,” she said.

In the clip, Zand and her instructor leap from the aircraft and glide through the air before deploying the parachute. It’s during that descent—and especially after the parachute opens—that the wardrobe mishap becomes noticeable, prompting the now-viral reaction online.

“You had your own airbags”

After posting the video to TikTok, Zand added a simple tip for viewers: wear a sports bra when skydiving. The clip quickly exploded, racking up millions of views and likes within days, according to Newsweek.

The internet, as expected, had plenty to say. “Sista you had 3 parachutes 😭,” one commenter joked. Another added, “You had your own airbags just incase 😩😩😩😩😩.” Others piled on with, “Why did they inflate too 😭😂” and “You were prepared to land in the water 😭😭😭.”

In the viral footage, the instructor remains professional and seemingly oblivious to the wardrobe issue during the jump, which many commenters found hilarious.

The tone across the comments has been overwhelmingly playful, with many viewers praising Zand’s confidence and sense of humor. Some also noted they could relate to the wardrobe oversight, especially in high-pressure or unfamiliar situations.

Zand herself embraced the reaction. Reflecting on the viral moment, she told Newsweek she was grateful the video brought laughter to so many people. “I feel truly honored to have made millions of people laugh,” she said, noting that uplifting content can make a difference during difficult times.

She also acknowledged that there were subtle warnings she missed before the jump, including suggestions from others to adjust her clothing—hints that, in hindsight, pointed to the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction.

It’s worth noting that while the regular bra caused a visual “inflation” effect due to the high-velocity wind, it did not pose a mechanical safety risk to the parachute deployment or the harness.

Despite the mishap, the jump itself was safe and successful, conducted as a tandem dive with a trained instructor handling the technical aspects. The viral attention has instead centered on the relatable and humorous side of the experience.
