A chicken tender meal is supposed to be the easy part of a busy day. For one Tennessee woman, it meant a second trip to the restaurant and a tense talk about who should cover the mistake.
As first reported by The Nerd Stash, Shelby, who posts on TikTok as Shelby Desha, says her Popeyes tenders were cold, hard, and pink inside. When she went back for a full replacement, she says the manager offered new tenders only. She adds that he told her to reheat the rest at home.
Shelby says she was low on gas but drove back anyway. She told the worker at the counter her food was “inedible.” She also said, “All my food is cold,” and asked for the whole meal to be redone. That worker turned out to be the manager. Per her video, he answered, “The only thing I can replace is just your tenders.”
The manager wasn’t offering a full replacement
Shelby asked, “So, I’m supposed to eat the rest of my food cold, with new tenders?” He replied, “I mean, if you got an air fryer or a microwave, that does the trick.” Her caption says she owns neither. She told him, “I paid for it to be warm, though, when I ate it.”
The manager reportedly held to that offer. Shelby says he sighed, as if the request put him out. He told her Popeyes is “corporate” and said he is not “obligated” to give his name. She says he would not share a corporate phone number either. Then he went quiet, and Shelby said she would contact corporate herself. It is not the first time a Popeyes customer has described a counter exchange going sideways over a simple order problem.
Shelby also held the tenders up to the camera. She struggles to pull one apart, and the middle looks pink. “I ordered a whole meal to eat a whole meal,” she says. She adds, “I went to bed hungry that night.”
A video cannot show whether the chicken was truly undercooked. Pink meat is not always a sign of raw poultry, though the USDA says chicken should reach 165°F to be safe. Popeyes has not commented, as of September 30, 2026. Food handling at the chain has drawn scrutiny in other viral clips too, so the topic is not new.
Shelby also asks, “Is this how corporate-owned locations treat their customers?” Popeyes is owned by Restaurant Brands International, but the brand also has franchisees operating restaurants. It is not clear which kind of location Shelby visited. Refund practices can differ from store to store.
Several commenters seem to know this location. One wrote, “Never ever go to that Popeyes!” Another said, “Report to the corporate. Attach this video in the email. He needs to be fired.” Shelby replied that she already emailed corporate and never got a response.
Others focused on the partial replacement. One commenter wrote, “He should have replaced the whole order since you did bring it all back.”
For now, Shelby says she is still waiting on corporate. It is unclear if the restaurant will respond to her complaint.
