Florida man allegedly drives BMW into dealership after being denied $130k sports car. Police allege he returned to the showroom with a different plan

The crash wasn't the end of the incident.

Kevin Alexander Leiman was 20 when he drove a BMW through the glass windows of a Gainesville dealership after being denied financing. The Feb. 25, 2025 incident caused an estimated $60,000 in damage, and newly surfaced police bodycam and security footage have brought the case back into the spotlight.

Patrol Cam Live brought the incident back into the spotlight on Oct. 1, 2026, when the channel posted footage of the aftermath on YouTube. The incident happened on Feb. 25, 2025, when Leiman arrived at BMW of Gainesville on North Main Street around 2 p.m. He wanted to buy and test-drive a 2025 BMW M4 CS, a limited-production sports car with 543 horsepower and a price tag reportedly between $110,000 and $130,000.

The crash wasn’t the end of the incident

Before he could take the car out, the dealership required a credit check. Leiman failed to qualify for financing and was denied a test drive. Police records say he became aggressive after being turned down. He allegedly went into an office and tried to take a vehicle key, but staff intervened and told him to leave the property.

He didn’t go far. Instead, Leiman returned to his vehicle and stayed in the parking lot for several hours. Security footage later showed his car circling the dealership before he drove straight through the showroom’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

The crash caused extensive damage to the building and the cars inside. According to Guessing Headlights, the arrest affidavit put the damage to the property at around $50,000, with another $5,000 to $10,000 in damage to the paint and wrap of a BMW displayed inside. But the crash wasn’t the end of the incident.

Witnesses told police that Leiman got out of his vehicle after it came to a stop inside the showroom and punched an employee in the face. He then allegedly went through office drawers looking for the keys to the BMW M4 CS he had wanted to drive earlier.

Leiman eventually ran from the dealership on foot. Gainesville police officers caught up with him a few blocks away and detained him. Bodycam footage captured Leiman making several unusual remarks to officers, including, “You guys are all stuck.” Police called Gainesville Fire Rescue to the scene so he could receive a medical and psychiatric evaluation.

He was able to avoid prison

Despite the damage, no employees or customers were reported to have suffered serious physical injuries. Engineers also determined that the building’s main structure remained safe following the crash.

Leiman pleaded not guilty in March 2025. Court records show he later entered a pretrial intervention (PTI) program, which allowed him to avoid immediate prison time under certain conditions. The program included supervised probation, restitution for the damage and mandatory mental health counseling.
