Man confronts Ohio woman after a Kroger parking-lot crash. Then she allegedly drags him 300 feet to death: ‘showed herself to be a danger’

On Aug.11, Danielle Henry, 35, entered a guilty plea to aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of Ibrahim Diakite. Officials said she had been arrested in the case less than a year before that plea. A judge handed down her sentence later the same month, reports Law & Crime.

Authorities said the two were in a small collision on Oct. 22, 2025, in the parking lot of a Kroger store in Westerville, Ohio. Police called the wreck a fender bender that took place as they were leaving the grocery store.

Henry pulled out of the lot after the crash, police said. Diakite is said to have followed in his own car until both vehicles halted at a red light. He then left his car, walked over to hers, and stood directly in front of it so she could not drive off, investigators said.

Police said Diakite next climbed onto the hood of the car Henry was driving. Investigators said she hit the accelerator without warning and sent him off the hood. He came down in the street, police reported. Authorities said her car then went over him as he lay there.

Henry apparently did not stop after that. Officials reported that the car pulled him more than 300 feet before his body came out from under the vehicle. He reportedly later died in a hospital. This incident highlights the dangers of drivers accelerating with someone in their vehicle, such as when a Florida man allegedly accelerated with a police officer trapped in his car.

Westerville Police Chief Holly Murchland spoke with local CBS affiliate WBNS about the case. She said Henry already had several arrest warrants when the incident happened. Murchland also confirmed that the car Henry was driving when she struck Diakite had been stolen.

Murchland said, “[Henry] was obviously willing to do whatever she could to keep from being caught by the police and showed herself to be a danger to the community.”

Prosecutors first charged Henry with aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, hit-skip, also described as hit-and-run, on private property, failure to comply with an order or signal of police, and seven additional misdemeanor charges.

On Aug. 27, a judge sentenced Henry to up to five and a half years in prison. She must serve at least four years. The judge also permanently suspended her driver’s license. Parking lot confrontations can escalate dangerously, as when a TikToker said a mother slapped her for confronting her over children allegedly left alone in a Memphis Kroger lot.
