A manhunt is currently underway in Tennessee. Police have now been looking for Craig Berry for four days as he is the number one suspect in the shooting of his wife. Berry disappeared into the woods after allegedly shooting his wife on Friday; he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Berry, who is a military special forces veteran, is described as being in “good physical shape,” as well as being “an excellent swimmer and diver,” according to a post by the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook. The post added that a warrant for second-degree attempted murder had been issued for Berry but warned that the man “is armed with at least one handgun and is believed to have taken extra ammunition.”
According to an article from The Independent Craig Berry allegedly shot his wife during an argument which occurred on Friday May 1st. Berry’s wife was rushed to a nearby medical facility although her current condition has not been publicly disclosed. The woman’s identity was also kept from the public although it has been confirmed that Berry’s wife is a school teacher. Meanwhile, Berry went on the run armed with at least one weapon.
What do we know about Craig Berry?
The latest update from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office explains that Berry was last seen near River Trace Road where he was also tracked by K-9s. It’s believed that he currently does not possess a phone or other means of communication. A trail cam photo which was taken on Friday morning also showed that Berry was dressed in some sort of camo gear.
The trail soon went cold and authorities have not ruled out the possibility that Berry may have received some “outside assistance” following his going on the run. It has not been confirmed whether he is still in the area or if he has successfully been able to flee to someplace else.
A Facebook page believed to belong to Craig Berry suggests that he had quite the extensive military career. An image apparently from 1992 appears to show Berry in uniform in front of a military memorial. The owner of the page described retiring in 2016.
Despite eluding the authorities for four days now the manhunt for Berry continues with multiple law enforcement agencies conducting “a very detailed search” of the area from River Trace Road to Hwy 79 as well as parts of Hwy 232. Recent photos of Berry have also been shared for the public to keep a look out for him. Anyone who sees Berry is advised to contact 911 immediately.
