10 Things We Want To See In Season 2 Of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

It wasn't perfect, but for the most part, the first season of Legends of Tomorrow exceeded expectations. Going on a trip through time with characters like Rip Hunter, The Atom, and Hawkgirl proved to be a lot of fun, while The CW giving the Arrow/The Flash spinoff plenty of money to play with ensured that it always impressed visually. Like many time travel stories, the series did occasionally ask for a few too many logic leaps, but that's nitpicking, and the show has definitely established itself as a worthy addition to the DC TV Universe - which kicked off with Arrow way back when and continues to grow with the addition of Supergirl. Thankfully, we don't have long to wait until season 2 hits the network. Set to premiere this Fall, there's a lot to be excited for when Legends of Tomorrow returns thanks to some major new casting additions, a shaken up status quo, and a cliffhanger which pointed to the introduction of a major superhero team last seen in live-action in Smallville. So, with that in mind, what you'll find here is a look at the ten things we want to see most in the second season of Legends of Tomorrow. 10) Reverse-Flash The first time we heard Rip Hunter's name was when Eobard Thawne mentioned him in The Flash. While it was little more than a throwaway line, there's clearly some history there, and delving into that has a lot of potential (even if it's just for a single episode). While we still don't know how the events of "Flashpoint" will impact the DC TV Universe, it was revealed in season two of the Scarlet Speedster's series that a time remnant of Thawne exists, so the team crossing paths with him in Legends of Tomorrow could work without further complicating the timeline. The Reverse-Flash loves to travel through time causing chaos, and with Hunter now essentially the last Time Master, some sort of confrontation with this villain feels like an inevitability during season 2. 9) Constantine Joins The Team It's really no wonder that Constantine was cancelled when NBC handled the series so poorly. Given very little promotion and stuck in a terrible slot on a Friday night, the demon hunter's adventures didn't last long, but pretty much everyone was happy to see Matt Ryan reprise the role in Arrow's fourth season. With that Justice League Dark movie still stuck in development hell, there's really no reason why this character couldn't join the Legends of Tomorrow roster, and having someone with ties to the magical side of the DC Universe would open the door to some interesting new non sci-fi type tales. Throw in the fact that Constantine has some history with Sara Lance, and at least just one appearance in season 2 begins to look pretty likely after all. 8) Captain Cold Returns Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold was shockingly killed off in the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow, and while it's been confirmed that the actor won't be aboard the Waverider in season two, he has signed a deal which will see him return in both this show and The Flash. How that's going to work is hard to say, and while time travel is certainly one possibility, it's hard to escape the feeling that The CW has something a little more unique planned for the villain moving forward (an Earth-2 doppelganger seems like a strong possibility). Regardless of how it happens though, it's essential that we see Cold again, especially as there's so much great dramatic potential in exploring how Heat Wave gets by without having his partner in crime and best friend by his side. 7) Jay Garrick... By far one of the coolest moments in the season two finale of The Flash was the reveal that the Man in the Iron Mask was the real Jay Garrick from Earth-3 (that's right, there's now another alternate reality to explore). While his story ended with Harry and Jesse promising to find a way to return him home, saying goodbye to Jay would be a crying shame. Sure, an argument could be made that he should return in The Flash, but I would much prefer to see him make his presence felt in Legends of Tomorrow instead. It would give us chance to learn more about him without Barry being involved, and adding a speedster to this team - even on a temporary basis - would create an interesting new dynamic, especially when many of them have worked alongside The Flash. 6) ...And The Rest of The JSA Of course, one great way to introduce Jay here would be to reveal that he's a member of the Justice Society of America. In the closing minutes of Legends of Tomorrow's finale, we learned that Mick had sent Hourman back in time to warn the team about some sort of threat in the future, and showrunner Marc Guggenheim has since confirmed that this group will play a role in the show when it returns. This isn't something which should be done half-heartedly though; teasing the JSA throughout the course of the season is one thing, but at some point, we need to see the entire team standing on screen alongside Rip Hunter and company. Whether they're led by Jay Garrick or not doesn't matter; this group should be a bit part of the DC TV Universe moving forward. 5) Alien Lifeforms It's already been confirmed that the Thanagarians won't play a role in Legends of Tomorrow when it returns, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't get to meet some other alien races along the way. As fun as time travel can be, it's been established that the Waverider is capable of travelling into outer space too, so there's really no reason why we won't get to enjoy seeing the team going on some cosmic adventures which still fit within the budget of a TV show. With the Justice League movie delving into Apokolips and characters like Darkseid and Steppenwolf, they're probably off limits, but there are literally countless other possibilities. One very exciting choice could be the Anti-Monitor, a villain that fans of The Flash will know has very close ties to the Fastest Man Alive's future... 4) More Jonah Hex In terms of guest stars, Legends of Tomorrow really exceeded expectations by bringing in Jonah Hex. Last seen being played by Josh Brolin in a terrible big screen adaptation, the show went a long way in redeeming the scarred cowboy, but there's still lots more which could be done with him. His comic book counterpart is no stranger to travelling through time, and his history with Rip meant that the gunslinger fit right in on the Waverider when he boarded the ship. While it's hard to say whether he's the sort of character who could be a compelling presence for the entire season, another episode being devoted to his adventures in the Old West definitely wouldn't go amiss providing the showrunners can find an exciting new way to tackle it after his previous appearance. 3) New Locations Exploring different periods is always fun, and Legends of Tomorrow did a surprisingly good job of taking us all around the world (despite shooting only in Canada) during season one. However, we spent quite a bit of time in the same decades, and it would be nice to see the show expand its horizons a little more when it returns. It's obviously limited due to budgetary reasons, but going further forwards or backwards in time obviously opens the door to some exciting new possibilities. Why not have the team hang out in the Stone Age or a future where the world has been completely ravaged into a Mad Max style warzone? Either way, keeping away from the 50s - 80s is a must in order to keep the show and its time travel mechanic feeling fresh and different. 2) Future Flash A highlight in Legends of Tomorrow's first season came when we paid a visit to a future version of Star City. It was there that we met an older Green Arrow who had lost faith in his mission, and while it was only one of an infinite number of futures, it was still fascinating to see where the character could one day end up. In season 2, a similar episode featuring The Flash should be a priority. The Scarlet Speedster's series has teased his fate on a number of occasions, so getting to see him ten or twenty years from now would be amazing, especially if his status quo has drastically changed by then. There are really any number of ways this could go, and even a future where Barry has died (at the hands of the Anti-Monitor) and Wally has taken over would be fun to see here. 1) Supergirl As of right now, we still don't know whether Supergirl's arrival on The CW means that she'll become part of Arrow and The Flash's reality or will remain separate. The latter makes crossovers tricky, but so too does attempting to incorporate her world into the one which has already been established over the past four years or so. No matter how that plays out, we know that an epic four night event will take place this Winter which unites all of these characters. However, I don't think that should be it for Kara when it comes to her interactions with the team; Rip mentioned that he saw a Man of Steel fall, so he's clearly travelled between Earths, and Supergirl making at least the one appearance during season 2 (like Stephen Amell did last year) would actually make perfect sense.
